Did the Blender Community Break the Internet?
Some of you may have noticed that today there was a global internet outage. The bulk of which seemed to stem from a problem with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Quite a few of the services that run Superhive sit atop AWS, so we were down as well.
This was especially inconvenient because today was supposed to be the start of our epic Superhive October Blend Fest event, where we're sharing a different promotion, challenge, or deal for 10 days. We were supposed to be kicking this off with a full site-wide sale. Many of you probably even got a specific email to let you know that the sale was on... only to discover that our half of the internet was on fire. We had a suspicion that the Blender community was really excited about this event, but we didn't know you were that excited!
All kidding aside, systems went down and there's not a lot we could do to control that. However, we're still sorry that it happened.
The good news is that systems appear to have recovered and the Superhive October Blend Fest can go on! But, rather than try to repeat the Sitewide sale tomorrow, we're going to push it to the end of the event, on October 29th.
In the meantime, we have some excitement to share with you tomorrow, so be sure to check back here to see what it's all about!
