Support Periods: Purchases on Superhive now served with a side of confidence
Starting today, products on Superhive can include a Support Period: a 12-month guarantee, backed by us, ensuring that what you purchase will be actively supported, maintained, and kept up to date.
This tool is now in the hands of Creators and backed by Superhive.
A guarantee you can actually count on
When a product includes a Support Period, the creator is committing to three things for 12 months from your purchase date:
- Responding to support requests within 3 business days
-
Granting you ownership to every update made to your purchased product within the support period
- Keeping the product compatible with the current Blender LTS release
That's not a promise floating out in the void. Superhive holds creators to it. If a creator isn't delivering on their obligations, we step in. Creators are incentivized to continue improving their products and supporting you as their valued customer.
You've never had this kind of platform-level accountability before. Now you do.
What you own stays yours
A Support Period is not a subscription. There are no recurring charges and no automatic renewals. You will never be surprised by an unexpected payment.
When the 12 months ends, everything you received during that time — every file, every update — remains yours permanently. What expires is the creator's obligation to keep supporting that purchase. Nothing is taken away.
If you want to stay current on a product you rely on, you can extend your support period at any time at a discounted rate. The choice is yours.
Most products won't change

Support Periods are a tool for creators. Many products on Superhive will continue to be sold as they always have been with no need for support periods. You'll always be able to see clearly on a product page whether a Support Period is included before you buy, so you can make an informed decision either way.
For products that do include a Support Period, you'll see it on the product page, and when you buy on your orders page, and in any messages you exchange with the creator. This informs them that you have invested in their support so they can prioritize helping you.
Why this matters
One of the most common frustrations in the Blender ecosystem is products going quiet; an add-on that stops working after a Blender update, a tool that hasn't been touched in years. It happens because one-time sales eventually stop covering the ongoing cost of maintenance. The income dries up, the creator has no incentive or resources to continue the work and the product quietly dies.
Support Periods change that equation. When customers who are actively using a product choose to financially support its continued development, creators have both the means and the motivation to keep going. That means fewer abandoned tools, better compatibility, better features and a healthier ecosystem for everyone building in Blender.
Superhive has always been built around the belief that creators doing great work deserve to make a sustainable living. Support Periods are an opportunity to build that ongoing support and how we make sure that when you invest in a tool, that investment is protected.
We're glad to finally have this in the hands of our creators.
