Blender Batch Renamer & Sorter
Access Methods
- View3D > Sidebar > Renamer Tab
- Right-click on objects > Batch Renamer
- Object menu > Quick renaming
- Keyboard shortcuts
Keyboard Shortcuts
- Alt+R - Open quick rename popup
- Alt+S - Sort selected objects
Basic Functions
Rename Objects
- Select objects you want to rename
- Go to the Renamer tab in the sidebar
- Configure naming options
- Click "Rename objects"
Quick Rename
- Select objects
- Press Alt+R or right-click and select "Quick renaming"
- Set options in the popup
- Click "Rename"
Sort Objects
- Select objects you want to sort
- Go to the "Sorting options" section in the Renamer tab
- Choose sort method (Name, Type, Parent)
- Click "Sort objects" or press Alt+S
Presets
- Quick presets available from the "Presets" button
- Save custom presets in the "Presets" section
Renaming Options
Basic Options
- Keep original names - Use original names as base
- Base name - New base name to replace original
- Prefix/Suffix - Add text before/after name
- Add numeration - Add sequential numbers
- Find and replace - Replace text in names
- Case - Change letter case (UPPER, lower, Title)
- Add type prefix - Add MSH_, CAM_, etc. based on object type
- Remove existing numbers - Remove .001, .002, etc.
- Ensure unique names - Make all names unique
Preview
- Enable "Show preview before applying" to check changes
- Edit names manually in the preview list
- Apply changes when satisfied
Backup & Restore
- "Create name backups" option preserves original names
- Use "Restore original names" to undo renaming
Quick Preset Examples
- Type + Numeration: MSH_OBJ_001, CAM_OBJ_002, etc.
- Prefix + Base + Suffix: prop_object_v1_01, prop_object_v1_02, etc.
- Only numeration: Original name + sequential numbers
