Bug Swarm Simulator

Procedural Insect Dynamics
UPDATE - Includes pathfinding, custom paths, and overall stability improvements.

Bug Swarm Simulator is an advanced procedural simulation and animation tool using geometry nodes, allowing you to animate one creature or hundreds. A multilayered procedural approach makes realistic swarm simulations possible like never before. Every footstep is calculated, and adjustable.

Features:

- Swap out the base models with your own, allowing limitless possibilities.

- Optimized for 6-8 legged creatures, with realistic walk-cycles based on actual spiders or ants.

- Self collision and stacking are approximated, so creatures try to avoid intersection and can optionally pile up on each other.

- Preview mode allows real-time playback of even large numbers of particles so you can quickly iterate and get the animations you want.

- Rigging mode to simplifies setup when swapping creature meshes.

- Fast, procedural rig. No deformation, so it works best with creatures with exoskeletons, but that gives it better performance.

- Creatures can walk over any terrain, even upside down.

Demo file includes spider proxy model and the ant. Higher poly spider and crab models not included (Crab model can be found for free on sketchfab)
