Canadair CL-13 Sabre Mk-6 by David A. York and Thoth Studios

This model was originally designed as the collection of visual object incorporated into simulation created for X-Plane 12 by me. The design was from scratch entirely by me and does not include any mesh or other object created by others. The initial livery is that of the RCAF including the Golden Hawks Aerobatic group colours. As the DGR Luftwaffe also flew the Canadair Sabre a Luftwaffwe livery is also included. A paint map is icluded to assist creation of other livery as desired.

The project was undertaken as a modeled aircraft such that the Blender created models would be suitable for 3D printing directly as well. A printable set of files can be easily made with and Slicing software from the obj/mtl or stl files. Modeling and animations were carried out with Blender 4.x and paints and textures created or modified with Krita. An HDRI for rendering in blender is included

The Canadair Sabre is a jet fighter aircraft built by Canadair under licence from North American Aviation. A variant of the North American F-86 Sabre, it was produced until 1958 and used primarily by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) from 1952 until replaced in 1962. Several other air forces also operated the aircraft.

The aircraft was produced in two significant batches. The first, the Mk. 2 and Mk. 4s, with fewer than 1,000 produced, were only slightly different from their US counterparts. The second run, the Mk. 5s and Mk. 6s of similar numbers, were patterned on the later versions of the US Sabre with larger wings for improved maneuverability while replacing the original General Electric J47 engine with the locally designed more-powerful Avro Canada Orenda 14. A single Canadair Sabre Mk 6 testbed was fitted with an afterburner engine (Orenda 11R) analogous to the F-86D and K in service with the USAF, but the conversion never went into Canadian production.

3D modeling of cockpit and equipment is available on request but have not been included in the package due to the greatly increase complexity this adds to the asset and likely not required for common applications - especially 3D printing.
