FiberBake · Hair Card Textures & Grooming
FiberBake 1.1.1
A maintenance release, mainly for anyone who started on 1.0. Nothing new and nothing behaves differently.
Fixed
- Update Node Groups now brings your project the whole way up to date. A .blend keeps its own copy of the effect list, so a project made with 1.0 still offered 1.0’s thirteen effects and could not reach Mirror or Reduce HairCards however current the add-on was. The list now travels with the node groups, and the update names the effects you gained. Layers you already built keep the effects they have, settings and all.
- A confirmation warning reappeared after the action had run, in Blender’s Adjust Last Operation panel, where it read as a statement about what had just happened.
- Some tooltips did not answer what the button does. Eleven of them, including Reimport Cards, Copy Effects From and Show / Hide Imported Cards.
Installing
Install the new over the old one. Your projects are unaffected, and the bundled files are unchanged from 1.1.0..zip
Coming from 1.0 or 1.1? Open a saved project and use About > Updates > Update Node Groups to bring it up to date.
FiberBake 1.1.0
New
- Cylinder card shape. Wraps the card into a tube for braids, dreads and thick strands. Roundness flattens it towards the head, Open unrolls it back to a flat card without squeezing the texture.
- Custom card shape. Draw the cross-section yourself. Each layer can keep its own curve or share one.
- Mirror effect. Groom one side and the other follows, live. The mirrored cards lean and twist the opposite way, as a real reflection does.
- Reduce HairCards. Thins a dense layer down to the cards that matter, keeping the shape of the hairstyle instead of leaving it moth-eaten.
- Twist. Rotates each card along its own length, in every tilt mode.
- Root Flatten. The card lies flat where it meets the head and takes its shape further down, for braids and dreads.
- Random Width. Varies card thickness, so a layer stops reading as a row of identical strips.
- Add Curve. Adds a straight hair curve at the length you set, in front of your character instead of at the world origin.
- Layer colors. Tell layers apart in the viewport. Works in Solid.
- ID view. See the cards wearing the baked ID pass, to spot repetition.
- Update Node Groups. Brings a project saved with an older version up to date, keeping your settings and hand-drawn curves.
Improved
- Bake your maps in stages: import with the color, add roughness, normal, alpha or the ID pass later.
- Open a bake scene from inside the Groom workspace.
- Copy From and Copy Effects ask which parts to bring over.
- Width Profile and Custom Shape start from a shape instead of a flat line.
- The base heads no longer ship with brows and lashes, so they are far lighter to add.
- Wireframe shows only the cards, not the emitter underneath.
- Convert to Mesh warns about layers it cannot include.
- Clearer icons in the effect list, and every effect reads there exactly as it reads in the menu that adds it.
Fixed
- Changing the bake work folder no longer loses the card textures.
- Grooming names the files it would overwrite before you accept the folder.
- Maps baked after the first import are picked up.
- Groom on Character asks for a work folder when it needs one, instead of failing later with no way out.
- Plus a number of smaller fixes to the panel, the effect list and the layer list.
