GeoShader Tools
Bridge the Gap Between Geometry Nodes and Shader Nodes!
Are you tired of manually setting up the same nodes every time you want to link procedural effects from Geometry Nodes to your materials? GeoShader Tools is a powerful, time-saving addon designed to streamline your procedural workflow. Create complex proximity effects, blend materials based on geometry, and reuse your favorite shaders with just a few clicks. Stop wasting time on repetitive tasks and focus on what truly matters: your creativity.
Key Features
- One-Click Distance Attribute: Instantly generates a pre-configured Geometry Node group that creates a named attribute based on an object's distance to a target. It's perfect for procedural masks, gradients, and dynamic effects.
-
Instant Attribute & Shader Mix: In the Shader Editor, automatically create and link an
Attributenode and aMix Shader, ready to use the data generated by Geometry Nodes. - Simple & Reliable Material Drop: Drag any material from the Asset Browser or Outliner into the addon's drop zone to instantly copy its entire node tree into your active shader graph. It's fast, simple, and it just works.
- "Frame All" View Utility: After dropping a material, its nodes might be off-screen. Just press the handy "Frame All Nodes" button to instantly zoom and pan, fitting all nodes perfectly in your view. No more hunting for lost nodes!
A Smoother Workflow
- Dynamic Proximity Effects: Make the ground appear wet around a character's feet or have walls glow as an object approaches.
- Advanced Procedural Texturing: Automatically blend materials like moss on rocks or rust in crevices—all based on geometry and relationships between objects.
- Accelerate Your Lookdev: Reuse your favorite materials instantly. The simple "Drop & Frame" workflow saves valuable time on every project.
Quick Start Guide
Part 1: Creating a Procedural Mask
- In the Geometry Node Editor, go to the "GeoShader" sidebar tab.
- Click "Create Distance Attribute Group".
- Connect a target object (e.g., an Empty) to the new group's
Objectinput and adjust the parameters.
Part 2: Using the Mask and Dropping Materials
- Switch to the Shader Editor. In the "GeoShader" tab, click "Create Attribute + Mix" to use the mask.
- Drag & drop a material from your assets into the Material Drop zone. The nodes are copied instantly.
- Can't see the new nodes? Just click the "Frame All Nodes" button.
- Connect the new nodes to your setup and repeat as needed. It's that simple!
Stop rebuilding the same nodes over and over.
