v1.2 update, 3/6/25: added optional surface option (experimental - slower to calculate). If no surface is chosen the modifier will default to the standard flat ground.

Note: make sure your object is significantly above the surface (relative to z-axis) while using the modifier.

Ground Modifier

Unlike standard snapping alternatives, the ground modifier is fully dynamic! Any geometry, any object transform, and... animations too!

Works as a standard modifier - drop it in like normal and stack effects.

Create otherwise impossible animations (like complex rolling) super easily!

Some standard use-cases are:

  • keeping furniture etc exactly on the floor
  • correcting armature animation (foot clipping)
  • rolling animations

Installation

Ground Modifier is installed just like any other addon. Drag the .zip right into Blender (4.3 or above) and hit accept.
