Introduction to Anatomy
Welcome to our Anatomy class for artists! Here, we're going to teach you all about the human body so you can create really cool characters. We'll make the tricky stuff simple, so even if you're new to this, you can still learn a lot. We'll teach you about bones, muscles, fat, and skin, and how to use them to create 3D characters that people will love!
Note: While we are sculpting in Zbrush, the knowledge taught is software agnostic so you can easily follow along in Blender.
Learn the Anatomy Recipe
Let's learn about how to make characters that look and feel like they could be real people. Even though anatomy might sound tricky, don't worry! We're going to make it easy with four simple steps. It's like having a map that shows you exactly how to make characters that look right. We'll learn about the muscles in our bodies, like the biceps, triceps, quadriceps, trapezius, deltoid, abs, and latissimus dorsi - and many more!
About your Instructor
Meet your teacher, Henning Sanden. He's been making characters for 17 years. He's worked on famous movies like Alien Covenant, Pirates of the Caribbean, Venom, Pacific Rim: Uprising, Batman V Superman, and many others! Plus, he's made lots of helpful FlippedNormals videos to teach people, so he's the perfect person to show us how to do this.
Made for Artists, Not Doctors
Introduction to Anatomy is perfect for artists who want to make characters that look real. We're taking the hard stuff about bodies and making it easy for you to use in your art. Sometimes, we'll use the correct anatomical terms, but we'll always make sure you can understand and use them for your characters.
The Perfect Blend of Theory and Practical
This tutorial is split into 2 parts. In the first part, called 'Learning Anatomy,' you'll learn the ideas behind how our bodies work, and a simple recipe for making them look real. You'll also find out about all the important bones and muscles. Then, in the second part, called 'Sculpting a Figure,' you'll get to use what you've learned to make a whole body sculpture. It's like a fun test for your new knowledge!
All Real-Time
Every video in Introduction to Anatomy is like having a teacher right there with you. Henning will show and explain everything in real-time, so you can see exactly how it's done. There are no time-lapses; it's nice and slow, so it's easy to learn and do.
Skill Level
Introduction to Anatomy has two parts:
PART 1 - LEARNING ANATOMY: Good for all skill levels. You do not need to know how to sculpt at all.
PART 2 - SCULPTING A FIGURE: In this part, you need to know how to use Blender or ZBrush - or a sculpting software of your choice.
What You'll Learn
- All important surface muscles are covered
- Why the skeleton is the foundation for everything
- How to keep learning anatomy
- How to sculpt a full muscular character
- Human proportions
- The recipe for successful anatomy
- How to understand complex anatomical terms
Bonus PDF Guide
You also get a PDF guide that goes with the videos. It's like having extra help to understand the anatomical terms and concepts. It'll make everything you learn even easier!
