Island Mountains
Documentation for Oceanic Island Mountain Landscapes
Overview
This asset pack provides a realistic and flexible island terrain optimized for visual storytelling, gameplay, and scene composition. Designed for wide environments or long shots, it delivers visual detail without overwhelming your scene’s performance.
Mesh Details
The landscape mesh is optimized to balance detail and efficiency.
Ocean mesh and shader system included, configured for realism.
A separate boulder scatter mesh is provided to enhance steep cliff areas.
Use the included displacement map if you wish to generate your own terrain from quad topology rather than using the optimized mesh.
Texture Overview
Resolution: Primary maps are in 8K for large-scale detail; supplemental textures are 4K.
Format: Standard image files (PNG or JPG), not embedded in .blend/.fbx.
-
Displacement & Masks:
Use the displacement map for external terrain generation.
The slope, river, shoreline, and ocean masks allow procedural or shader-based enhancements.
Shader Setup (Blender)
The included .blend file is pre-configured with:
Terrain material using all 8K maps
Ocean shader with transparency, foam, and wave detail
Logic for mixing cliff and grass textures using slope and shoreline masks
Easy parameter adjustment for color correction and bump intensity
To use in other software, you can recreate the setup using the same textures and masks.
Workflow Notes
Open the .blend file for full shader functionality and setup
Relink texture files after downloading
Add the boulder scatter mesh to high-slope regions for additional detail
Use masks to define rivers, coasts, and steep regions procedurally
Export or bake the terrain to your game engine of choice (Unreal Engine, Unity, etc.)
Use Cases
Cinematic flyovers & establishing shots
Game environments with realistic island terrain
World-building for ocean or archipelago-based stories
VR/AR experiences needing large-scale terrain
Compatibility
Native support: Blender (Cycles)
Export-compatible with: Unreal Engine, Unity, Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D
