A Blender setup to realistically reproduce medical scanning effects such as X-rays and CT scans. (Cycles and Eevee.)
This setup works on two levels:
The first level is dedicated to the shading tab. In the main shader node, I've called up the parameters related to emission color and volume absorption, such as those related to density, Fresnel, noise, and scan-lines ratio.
The second level of the setup deals with compositing, where you can manage glare, erosion, dilation, blur, and image sharpen. As much as this is an optional part of the setup, it can produce very different and interesting results. i recommend playing around with the main shading first, then switching to the Compositing tab and experimenting with the values based on your scene.
The setup is totally open to modification and improvement, and adding textures even from outside the main shading node can get you new and interesting results.
⚠️ Important: Make sure to apply all the object’s scale and rotation for the best results.
