Real Caustics Water - Ocean Painter
High fidelity water system for Blender.
Real Caustics Water - Ocean Painter is a professional, layered water pipeline that brings real water and real caustics into Blender. It unites three sources of water detail: photoscanned real surfaces, simulated waves, and procedural ocean - into a single art-directable system, composited in the height domain and finished with physically grounded caustics and foam.
This is not a one-click water preset. It's a deep, controllable system built for artists who want the best water possible and are willing to direct it.

Early access
RCW is in active development and available now as early access at a reduced price. Professionals who come in early get the tool at a lower cost, receive every update through to full release at no additional charge, and directly shape where the system goes. Your feedback during this phase is part of the build.
Built on four sources of realism and direction
Procedural Ocean - The foundation. Tileable, looping wave bases from calm swell to turbulent open sea, stackable across scales for large-scale motion and fine surface detail in the same surface. This is the carrier the rest of the system rides on.

Simulated Waves - Real fluid simulation brought into the surface: shore run-up, rolling sets, breaking against walls, boat wakes, standing ripples - with genuine foam. Event-driven water motion the procedural base can't produce.

Detail Waves (Early Development - limited number) - Photoscanned real water, the closest layer to the eye. Captured surfaces processed into the finest detail — capillary waves, the tiniest imperfections and distortions that only reveal themselves when you really look at water up close. The layer that makes the surface stop looking computer-generated when the camera gets near.

Decals - Free-placed foam and caustics. Drag and position them anywhere over the surface, exactly where you want them, add waves and foam by hand. Add an Array and Curve modifier and make you shoreline
Real caustics
Water caustics are powered by the Real Caustics addon, these are most physically real caustics which can be produced. Deep water has very blurry caustics, beach water has crisp defined patterns. Mix them together with Depth and you get a physically real Deep water to Shallow water transition.

Who this is for
RCW is built for professionals who want the highest fidelity Blender water can produce, with full control over every layer.
It assumes you're comfortable in Blender's material and geometry workflows - texture coordinates, attribute and vertex painting, and blend operations like Add, Multiply, Mix, and Height Lerp. If those are second nature, you'll feel at home immediately. If you're newer to Blender, RCW will have a steep learning curve.
