02_Product Overview

Modern Living Room Essentials is a modular asset collection designed for architectural visualization, interior visualization, and other workflows that benefit from realistic living-room furniture, décor, lighting, plants, and reusable PBR materials.

The collection is intentionally modular. Furniture and props are supplied as independent assets, while the material library is designed to give users freedom to adapt finishes to their own scene direction rather than being locked to a single presentation look.

Core product principle

Assets are supplied as reusable building blocks. The example materials shown in preview renders represent presentation choices, not mandatory material assignments.

04_Model Library

The supplied models are built to real-world scale based on standard furniture and prop dimensions.

Blender archive note – I have marked all the models and materials as assets, under their respective categories with custom thumbnails, so you can simply add the Blend folder in your asset libraries and drag and drop whichever asset is required for the scene.

* The leaves of Dracaena_Plant_Pot have not been combined into one mesh. They have been left as individual leaves for last minute adjustments as per user’s requirements. They can be combined after modifications are done.
The same goes for other plants.

04d_Material Usage Modularity

The supplied furniture and props are intentionally designed to be material-flexible. The materials visible in product renders are examples chosen to demonstrate one cohesive living-room aesthetic; users may assign other suitable materials from the included library according to the requirements of their own scene.

Exceptions

Special handling for small asset groups

Books, Frames_GRP, and Plants and utilize dedicated texture atlases that are provided separately inside “Textures_Mixed” folder.

Because these are compact assets, atlas resolutions are lower than the primary baked material library and are supplied at 2K or 1K depending on the specific asset/map.

Book and Frame textures are not PBR – they are only images to be used as book covers and frame pictures.

Both categories have their own UVs folder, so users can replace the covers or pictures easily if required.

Book covers are created to look plausible.

Plant textures are PBR sets with Diffuse, Metal, Roughness and Normal Maps [Plus Alpha and Translucency Maps for Dahlia and Fern plants].

Dahlia_Pink_Main and Dahlia_White_Main both share the same set of textures inside “Dahlia_wl_2K_Textures” folder.

All Plant Pots use the same pot soil texture found inside the “Pot_Soil_Textures” folder.

Snake_Plant_Pot – Pot soil uses the textures from above, while the leaves utilize the procedural Plant_Snake material.

Dracaena_Plant_Pot also uses the pot soil textures. The stem texture set is inside “Dracaena_Stem_1k”, I’ve used 1k because the stem is mostly covered and won’t be visible in most shots. Leave utilize the procedural Plant_Dracaena material.

(Both plant procedural leaves materials are explained in the Material Section below)

Rug – Since this model has fur over its surface, I have not used an HD image for the surface. The image is lower quality and its main purpose is to provide the color variations for the fur on top.

This image can be found in “Rug_Pattern_Image” folder inside “Textures_Mixed” folder.

04e_Hair Systems

Four Models use the hair particle system in blender, and these hair particles have been exported as an alembic (.abc) file along with the underlying model fbx and obj.

1.         Rug - to generate the fur over its surface

2.         Dahlia_White_Main – to generate stamens for the flower

3.         Daglia_Pink_Main – same as above

4.         Dahlia_Vase – same as above

04f_Technical Aspects

Blender Files, Controllers & Pivots

Native files retain the most complete setup

The Blender deliverables are the native source files and contain the most complete representation of the asset organization, material setup, controller hierarchy, pivots, UVs, and reusable procedural materials included with the pack.

·        Every supplied Blender asset uses a dedicated controller within the native scene hierarchy, including smaller props and décor objects.

·        Controllers are intended to simplify snapping/placement, movement, and rotation of asset hierarchies.

·        Appropriate parent-children hierarchy is present for the all of them.

*Curtain_Shear and Curtain_Thick do not have any controllers

Geometry

All the models have clean quad-based geometry.

There are very few triangles present.

There are no N-gons.

UVs

All the models have been UV unwrapped, except the Dracaena_Plant and Snake_Plant leaves as explained in the subsection ‘Plant Procedural Leaves**’ under section ‘05a_Procedural Materials’.

Naming

All the models follow a consistent naming convention for easy recognition and control.

Plant Procedural Leaves**

Using the Plant Procedural leaf materials – They are designed to work on a default plane that comes with automatic UVs. Therefore, it’ll work if it is applied directly to any plane before or after it has been shaped like a leaf (provided the default UVs are not disturbed). So, the leaves in their final shape should have squashed UVs (in the U direction), as they are supposed to.

The squashed UVs are necessary to produce the required texture.

05c_Baked PBR Texture Sets

The same procedural materials that are created in blender have been baked into seamless tileable texture sets, so the same look can be reproduced in other DCC programs.

Maps available – Diffuse, Roughness, Normal_GL, Height, Metal | Transmission (only for Glass) | Alpha, Translucency (for Dahlia and Fern plants)

Height-map clarification

The supplied height maps were used as source data for generating the seamless normal maps.

They are not displacement maps.

One might experiment with them, but the results will depend on the subdivision level, renderer and scene scale.

Formats – 8-bit PNG, 16-bit PNG, 32-bit EXR (Half-Float)

Resolutions – 2K, 4K, and 8K.

Seamless tiling is supported for all baked materials except Plant_Dracaena and Plant_Snake.

Plant texture sets are asset-specific and are not intended to tile or be used like the rest of the materials.
