PatchGAP- CAD Retopology Tool
Does Torus need separate guide curves?
No. Supported shapes are built from the source mesh.
What happens after Join Patches?
The patches are combined and nearby vertices are merged using Merge Distance.
The merged vertex count is reported. In Front and Wireframe are turned off.
What does Poke Faces do?
It adds a face center and creates a triangle fan. In Triangles and Loft,
it uses the complete supported contour. In Cylinder, it operates on the
original mesh cells before triangulation.
Can I change patch parameters after Finalize?
No. The patch becomes a regular mesh for manual editing. Its boundary can
still be used when creating neighboring patches.
Why doesn't the neighboring patch change with the new one?
This is intentional. A new patch attempts to match an existing neighbor,
but later edits do not automatically rebuild neighboring patches.
Why do I see an error instead of a new mesh?
The selected type or settings may not suit the surface. Try another type,
more segments, or less rotation. A failed rebuild preserves the last valid
mesh. If initial construction fails, the original surface may appear as a
preview instead.
What does Not Found mean when using Search Surface?
No alternative supported type was found. Your current result is preserved.
Why can't I select a surface?
Check that you are selecting the original Plasticity mesh and that it has
face_ids and groups metadata. A .blend file alone does not guarantee this.
