Quick Fix Normals: How it works
Quick Fix Normals adds a menu to the 3D Viewport header. Every tool applies to all selected meshes. Other object types in your selection are ignored.
Installation

Blender 4.0 / 4.1: Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install..., select the
.zip, then tick the add-on. -
Blender 4.2 and newer: Edit > Preferences > Add-ons, open the top-right dropdown, choose Install from Disk..., select the
.zip, then enable the add-on.
Do not unzip the file. Once enabled, the Quick Fix Normals menu appears in the 3D Viewport header.
The tools

| Detect Flipped Normals | Finds faces whose orientation differs from the consistent outward orientation, and reports how many were found |
| Recalculate Normals | Recomputes consistent normals (outside by default, optional Inside) |
| Clear Custom Normals | Removes custom split normals |
Detect Flipped Normals
- The result appears in Blender’s status bar (number of faces and objects). Per-object details are printed in the system console.
- With Select Flipped Faces enabled (default), the detected faces are selected. Enter Edit Mode to see them. You can change this option in the operator panel after running the tool.
- Detection works best on closed meshes. On open surfaces (a single plane, for example) there is no obvious “correct” side, so the result may not be reliable.
Recalculate Normals
Use the Inside option in the operator panel (bottom left of the viewport after running the tool) to point normals inward instead.
Good to know
- Your active object and your current mode are restored after each action.
- Every action can be undone with Ctrl+Z.
- Objects that cannot be edited (for example linked from a library) can cause an error message, and nothing is changed in that case.
