Usage
Access RenderForgeAI via the RenderForgeAI tab in the 3D Viewport sidebar (press N). The addon is organized into sections for intuitive control.
1. HDRI Generation
Purpose: Generates procedural HDRIs to enhance scene lighting and reflections.
Steps:
In the HDRI Generation section, check Enable HDRI Generation.
Select an HDRI Style (Natural, Urban, Studio, Sunset, Overcast).
Click Generate HDRI to update the world shader.
Result:
Sunset: Creates a gradient sky (orange to purple) using a ColorRamp.
Natural/Other Styles: Uses Nishita or Hosek-Wilkie sky textures.
Inspect the world node tree in Shader Editor (World context).
Tips:
Use glossy or metallic materials to visualize HDRI reflections.
Adjust Strength in World Properties > Background node for intensity control.
Combine with Scene Analysis for style-specific HDRIs (e.g., Realistic preset uses Natural HDRI).
2. Intelligent Denoising
Purpose: Reduces render noise using OpenImageDenoise, enabling high-quality results with low sample counts.
Steps:
In the Denoising section, check Enable AI Denoiser.
Choose Denoise Quality:
Fast: Minimal smoothing, fastest.
Quality: Balanced noise reduction.
Ultra: Detail-preserving with normal passes.
Adjust Denoise Strength (0.0–1.0, default: 0.5).
Click Denoise Render to apply settings.
Result:
Render settings update in Render Properties > Sampling > Denoising.
Low-sample renders (e.g., 16–32 samples) appear smooth.
Tips:
Use Ultra for complex scenes with fine textures.
Lower Denoise Strength to preserve details if over-smoothing occurs.
Combine with Render Optimization for automatic denoising in quick renders.
3. Scene Analysis
Purpose: Analyzes scene geometry, materials, and lights to provide insights and lighting suggestions.
Steps:
In the Scene Analysis section, click Analyze Scene.
Wait ~3 seconds for a loading animation (orange bounding box in Viewport).
View the Scene Analysis Results popup with metrics:
Object count, bounding box size.
Material count, average roughness.
Light and camera details.
Lighting issues (e.g., overlapping lights, high-energy sun).
Apply a suggested preset (e.g., Apply Cinematic) from the popup.
Result:
Lights are added to the scene (e.g., AI_Cinematic_1, AI_Cinematic_2).
World shader may update (e.g., HDRI for Realistic preset).
Action Log records analysis (e.g., Analyzed 50 objects).
Tips:
Use for large scenes (>10K vertices) to identify optimization opportunities.
Check Action Log for detailed feedback.
4. Lighting Optimization
Purpose: Applies AI-driven lighting setups tailored to scene content and artistic style.
Steps:
In the Lighting Optimization section, check Enable Light Optimization.
Select a Lighting Preset (Realistic, Cinematic, Studio, Dramatic, Soft Portrait, Product).
Choose a Lighting Style (Realistic, Cartoonish, Oldie).
Adjust Lighting Intensity (0.1–5.0, default: 1.0) and Color Temperature (1000K–10000K, default: 5500K).
Click Optimize Lighting or Analyze & Suggest Lighting for style-based suggestions.
Result:
Lights are added (e.g., AI_Realistic_Sun, AI_Studio_1) with scene-specific positions and properties.
Existing AI lights are cleared before applying new setups.
Action Log confirms application (e.g., Applied cinematic lighting with 2 lights).
Tips:
Use Scene Analysis first to ensure accurate light placement.
Experiment with styles for creative effects (e.g., Cartoonish for vibrant colors).
5. Volumetric Effects
Purpose: Adds atmospheric effects like fog or haze to enhance scene depth.
Steps:
In the Volumetrics section, check Enable Volumetrics.
Adjust Volumetric Density (0.0–1.0, default: 0.5).
Click Setup Volumetrics to add a volume scatter node to the world shader.
Result:
Renders show atmospheric effects (e.g., light scattering in fog).
Check Shader Editor (World context) for the Volume Scatter node.
Tips:
Increase density for thicker fog; decrease for subtle haze.
Combine with strong lighting (e.g., Dramatic preset) for visible effects.
6. Render Optimization
Purpose: Optimizes Cycles settings for faster renders without sacrificing quality.
Steps:
In the Render Optimization section, check Enable Smart Render.
Set Target Render Time (10–3600 seconds, default: 60).
Enable Adaptive Sampling for dynamic sample allocation.
Click Optimize Render to apply settings.
Result:
Render settings adjust (e.g., 128 samples for <120s, denoising enabled for <60s).
Action Log confirms optimization (e.g., Optimized render settings: 128 samples).
Tips:
Use for quick previews or final renders with tight deadlines.
Combine with denoising for low-sample, high-quality results.
7. Quadify Premium Integration
Purpose: Optimizes meshes to reduce polygon counts, improve UVs, and enhance render performance.
Steps:
Ensure Quadify Premium is enabled (automatically included with RenderForgeAI).
Select a mesh object in the 3D Viewport.
In the RenderForgeAI panel, locate the Quadify Premium section (if exposed in UI) or access via context menu (right-click object > Quadify Optimize).
Configure settings (if available):
Decimation Ratio: Reduce polygon count (e.g., 0.5 for 50% reduction).
UV Preservation: Maintain UV maps during optimization.
Topology Cleanup: Remove degenerate geometry.
Run the optimization operator (e.g., Optimize Mesh).
Result:
Mesh polygon count decreases, improving render times.
UVs and materials remain intact (if configured).
Action Log records optimization (e.g., Optimized mesh 'Cube' with Quadify).
Tips:
Apply to high-poly models (>100K vertices) before rendering.
Test with Scene Analysis to verify performance gains.
Check Object Data Properties for updated vertex/polygon counts.
8. Action Log
Purpose: Tracks all addon operations for debugging and user feedback.
Steps:
View the Action Log panel below AI Light Enhancer.
Monitor logs during operations (e.g., Generated sunset HDRI, Applied denoising with ultra quality).
Tips:
Copy logs for support requests.
Clear logs by restarting Blender if needed.

Troubleshooting
HDRI Not Visible:
Ensure Cycles is the render engine (Eevee may not show reflections).
Check World Properties > Use Nodes.
Verify Enable HDRI Generation is checked.
Run bpy.ops.ai.generate_hdri() in the Python console and check for errors.
Denoising Too Blurry:
Reduce Denoise Strength (e.g., to 0.3).
Switch to Ultra mode for better detail preservation.
Increase samples (e.g., 64).
Lighting Not Applied:
Ensure Enable Light Optimization is checked.
Run Analyze Scene first for accurate placement.
Check Action Log for errors (e.g., Invalid context in OptimizeLighting).
Volumetrics Not Visible:
Increase Volumetric Density or add strong lighting.
Verify Volume Scatter node in Shader Editor (World context).
Quadify Optimization Fails:
Ensure the selected object is a mesh.
Check Action Log for Quadify-specific errors.
Verify quadify_premium.py is present in the addon folder.
General Errors:
Open System Console (Window > Toggle System Console on Windows).
Run operators in the Python console (e.g., bpy.ops.ai.denoise_render()) and note errors.
Share Action Log, console output, and scene details with support.
Performance Issues:
