SA80 Rifle with simple rig
This is an SA80
Rifle I made as a CG background prop in a film. I tried to keep the poly count
down however I also wanted to get a lot of details from reference. I created
the texture in Substance Painter and gave it some wear and tear and scratches
that I saw in some of the real references images. The gun however is missing
some details like inside the breach. I could not find good references images of
inside the gun or a field strip but for the purposes of a third person animation it works well.
I forget what blender version I originally created this in but the lowest I could open it in was 4.0 and if it looks odd just turn Auto Smooth Normal on and it should fix your issues. I am pretty sure you can open it in lower blender versions but you might have to re apply the textures for older shader systems.
Note: The armature rig works with drivers and direct parenting rather then weight painted parts. I did this to work faster when animating so I kept it super simple in blender however it probably won't translate the same outside of blender in another program. Also the weapon model does not look well if you try and add another subdivided surface to the model. I made it to to be just the level of detail I liked and if you add a subdivide surface or multiresolution modifier it will look strange.
Anyhow the model works very good for animating in blender.
Hope you
like.
