A Blender setup to realistically reproduce security scanning effects. (Cycles and Eevee)
This shader is designed to emulate an airport-style X-ray scanner effect, ideal for visualizing internal geometry or creating a stylized "through-the-surface" aesthetic.
It works by simulating translucent shading combined with glowing outlines and depth-based gradients, which can help distinguish between layers of geometry and highlight object boundaries.
Outside the main shader node, you'll find a ColorRamp node. This is used to drive object-specific variations by assigning random colors - feel free to tweak it to achieve more diverse or cool results.

You get a set of parameters that allow for quick and optimized customization of the shading effect in Cycles and Eevee. You can experiment with emission levels, fresnel, highlights, and alpha blending to reinforce the scanning illusion.

⚠️ Important: Make sure to apply all the object’s scale and rotation for the best results.
