SF Ground — Concrete, Pavement & Sidewalk

Starting Frame in Ground

Built on one idea: it should be procedural all the way down. Ground as math, with every decision left somewhere you can reach it.

Three surfaces, not three tints of one.

CONCRETE is a seamless pour — broad tonal drift, fine aggregate, sparse hairline cracking. No joints, because a pour doesn't have them.

SIDEWALK is discrete slabs. Scored panels with hairline joints, a directional broom finish, and each bay a slightly different tone the way separate pours are. In Cycles the joints are real displaced edges, not a painted line.

PAVEMENT is asphalt — dense fine aggregate, oil sheen, patching. And road markings you switch on: solid yellow, double yellow, dashed yellow, dashed white. Set the width, the offset, the gap, the dash length. Wear the paint down until it chips and breaks up along its length. Make it wet, with puddles that pool in the low spots and go mirror-flat the way standing water does.

The panels and markings are generated IN the material. One flat plane gives you a sidewalk at any length with the joints landing correctly, or a road with a centre line. Nothing to model, nothing to clone.

WHAT IT COSTS TO RENDER — measured, not estimated. EEVEE, 1920x1080, 64 samples, against a plain material on the same shot:

Sidewalk, everything on ......... no measurable cost
  Concrete, everything on ......... +11%
Pavement, dry, no markings ...... +34%
  Pavement + a worn line .......... +36%
  Pavement + markings + puddles ... +53%

The cost is the aggregate, not the markings — those are close to free on top. Nobody tells you this, so there it is, along with which slider to drop if your machine is struggling.
