The main first advice is to append the collection of the ring you want to modify and design in a new blender file.

(It is most of the time not neccesary to open the full asset file. The full asset file contains many booleans and modifiers calculations

that can make the file very slow to open or even freeze. For that reason, the normal way to proceed is to APPEND the collections for your designs in a new blender file).
