WEBIXEL Documentation

Welcome to the official documentation for WEBIXEL, the procedural spider-web generation system for Blender. This guide is designed to help you navigate the parameters and workflows of the Geometry Nodes-based toolset, ensuring you get the most out of your purchase.

Getting Started

WEBIXEL is designed to be non-destructive and easy to integrate. To begin :

  1. Open the provided project file.
  2. You can either copy and paste the spider web meshes directly into your own project, or append the entire project into your scene depending on your workflow.

Interface Overview

In the Modifiers tab, you will see the “SpiderWebGenerator” Geometry Nodes modifier active on the spider web object.

By selecting this modifier, you will have access to all available options and variables, which are clearly named and organized into categories for easier navigation and customization.

Spider Web Type (Full Package)

If you are using the Full Package, you will see an option called Spider Web Type.

This option defines the algorithm used to generate the spider web. The system provides three different modes:

• Simple – Generates a classic, regular spider web suitable for most general use cases.

• Stranding – Creates webs primarily composed of stretched strands rather than circular structures.

• Shooting – Generates web strands that shoot outward and attach to surrounding surfaces or target points.

Each mode produces a different structural pattern for the web.

View Mode :

This option allows you to control how the spider web is displayed in the viewport.

Preview

Displays a lighter version of the web for easier editing and parameter adjustments, improving viewport performance.

Render

Displays the full detailed version of the web, matching what will appear in the final render.

This system is designed to keep the editing process lightweight while allowing the full detail to appear during rendering.

Parent Object  :

Specifies the object that the generated web will be parented to. When the parent object moves or rotates, the web follows it.

Note:

The web object's transform always remains at its default values :

Position : 0, 0, 0

Rotation : 0, 0, 0

Scale : 1, 1, 1

To change the position or rotation of the web, you should transform the Parent Object instead.

Variables and Parameters Explained :

SIMPLE‑WEB Generator :

Interaction Objects  :
A collection of objects that the web can interact with.
When objects are assigned here, the generated web can attach to them or wrap around them (for example, strands connecting to a pole, branch, or other geometry).
If no interaction objects are specified, the web will be generated independently and will not interact with other objects in the scene.

---
Random Seed  :
Defines the base random value used for generating the web. Changing this value produces a different overall web pattern while keeping all other parameters the same. Use this to create multiple variations from a single configuration.
---
Divisions Count  :
Sets the number of main radial strands that extend from the center outward (similar to the spokes of a wheel). Higher values create a denser web with more detail.
---
Rings Count  :
Controls how many circular/spiral rings are generated across the radial strands.
Increasing this value results in a finer, more tightly woven web.

---
Ring Subdivision  :
Specifies the amount of geometric subdivision applied to the rings.
Higher values add more segments to each ring, making curves smoother and more natural, at the cost of increased polygon count.

---
Ring Curvature  :
Controls how straight or wavy the rings are.
Lower values produce more regular, circular rings.
Higher values make the rings more wavy and irregular, giving the web a more organic look.

---
Gravity  :
Defines the strength of gravity applied to the web.
Lower values keep the web almost flat and taut.
Higher values cause the strands to sag downward and appear looser.

---
Random Z Expansion  :
Controls how much the web’s points are offset along the Z axis (height).
Increasing this value makes parts of the web push slightly forward or backward from the main plane, giving the web a more three‑dimensional appearance.

---
Random Z Divisions  :
Controls the amount of angular irregularity between the radial divisions.
Higher values make the radial strands less evenly spaced, resulting in a more natural, imperfect web.

---
Divisions Length  :
Sets the length of the radial strands from the center outward.
Higher values produce a larger, more spread‑out web.
Lower values create a more compact web closer to the center.

---
Rings Density Probability  :
Controls the distribution and density of rings across the web surface.
By adjusting this value you can influence whether rings are more concentrated near the center or towards the outer areas of the web.

---
Web Thickness  :
Defines the overall thickness (diameter) of the web strands.
Lower values create very thin, delicate webs.
Higher values produce thicker strands, suitable for cartoony styles or situations where the web needs to be clearly visible from a distance.

---
Attach to Collection  :
When enabled, the web can react to objects inside a specific Collection, allowing its strands to connect and attach to those objects.
---
Spider Web Material  :
Specifies the material applied to the web. Use this to assign or change the final visual appearance of the web strands.
---
Advanced

Min Ring Length  :
Sets the minimum allowed distance of rings from the center.
Increasing this value removes very small rings that are too close to the center.

---
Max Ring Length  :
Sets the maximum allowed distance of rings from the center.
Decreasing this value removes larger rings that extend too far from the center.

---
Random Strandings :
Controls the generation of additional irregular strands across the web. These strands simulate natural imperfections such as broken connections, secondary silk threads, or aging effects, making the web appear more organic and less structurally perfect.
---
Coverage Density :
Defines how much of the web surface is affected by randomly generated strands.
Higher values increase the overall presence of irregular strands across the web, creating a denser and more chaotic appearance. Lower values keep the web cleaner and closer to a regular structure.

---
Outward Threshold :
Determines how far random strands are allowed to extend toward the outer regions of the web.
Higher values increase the likelihood of strands appearing farther from the center, distributing irregularities more toward the outer rings.

---
Random Stranding Count :
Specifies the number of random strands generated within the web structure.
Increasing this value introduces more irregular connections between strands, resulting in a more complex and naturally imperfect web.

---
Random Stranding Length :
Controls the length of the generated random strands.
Higher values create longer strands that span larger distances across the web, while lower values generate shorter, more subtle strands.

---
Random Holes Size :
Defines the size of randomly generated holes within the web.
Larger values create more noticeable gaps in the web structure, simulating damage, decay, or missing silk connections.

---
Holes Overall Scale :
Controls the global scale of all generated holes.
Adjusting this parameter proportionally increases or decreases the size of every hole without altering their distribution pattern.

---
Holes Side Stranding Coverage :
Determines how many additional strands are generated around the edges of holes.
Higher values add more silk connections around hole boundaries, enhancing visual complexity and making torn or damaged areas appear more natural.

STRANDING‑WEB Generator :

Interaction Objects :
Defines the collection of objects that the web can interact with or attach to. In Stranding Web Gen, selecting a collection is required, as the generator uses the objects inside this collection as anchor points for creating strands.
---
Random Seed :
Controls the base random value used during web generation. Changing this value produces a different web structure while keeping all other settings unchanged. This is useful for generating multiple variations without modifying the main parameters.
---
Main Web Count :
Specifies the number of primary strands that form the main structure of the web.
Higher values generate a more complex and denser base network.
---
Subwebs L1 Density :
Controls the density of the first layer of secondary strands.
Higher values increase the number of secondary strands branching from the main structure, resulting in more detail and a more natural appearance.
---
Subwebs L2 Density :
Controls the density of the second layer of sub‑strands.
This layer usually generates thinner connections and smaller linking threads between existing strands. Increasing this value creates a finer and more intricate web structure.
---
Resolution :
Controls the geometric resolution of the generated strands.
Lower values produce simpler geometry with fewer segments, which is lighter and faster to compute. Higher values create smoother curves and more detailed strand shapes, while also increasing the overall density of the web.
---
Gravity :
Defines the strength of gravity applied to the generated strands.
Higher values introduce more sagging and curvature, simulating heavier or aged spider webs. Lower values keep strands straighter and more tensioned.
---
Web Thickness :
Controls the overall thickness of the web strands.
Lower values produce thin and realistic spider silk, while higher values create thicker strands that may be more suitable for stylized or distant visualizations.
---
Generate Inside Volume :
When enabled, the generator creates web strands within the volume defined by surrounding objects. This is useful for producing three‑dimensional webs inside enclosed spaces such as rooms, containers, or cavities. It can also help remove unwanted strands that extend outside the intended volume.
---
Spider Web Material :
Defines the material assigned to the generated web. This controls the visual appearance of the strands, including properties such as color, transparency, and reflections.
---
Advanced
These parameters control the allowed length range of strands generated at different structural layers of the web.

Main Web Min Length / Max Length :
Defines the minimum and maximum length allowed for the primary strands of the web. These values control how long or short the main structural strands can be.
---
Subwebs L1 Min Length / Max Length :
Defines the minimum and maximum length allowed for the first layer of secondary strands.
---
Subwebs L2 Min Length / Max Length :
Defines the minimum and maximum length allowed for the second layer of secondary strands.

SHOOTING‑WEB Generator :

Interaction Objects  :
Specifies the collection of objects that the web can interact with during generation. The web strands are projected toward and attached to objects within this collection.
This parameter must be assigned; otherwise the generator will not have valid surfaces to connect the strands.
---
Random Seed  :
Defines the base random value used for procedural generation.
Changing this value produces a different web pattern while keeping all other parameters unchanged, allowing quick variations of the same setup.
---
First Branch Count  :
Controls the number of primary branches generated after the **Straight Web** segment.
Higher values create a wider and more complex first layer of the web structure.
---
Second Branch Count  :
Determines how many secondary branches are generated from each primary branch.
Increasing this value adds more structural complexity and finer detail to the web.
---
Rings Count  :
Specifies the number of ring connections created between branches.
These rings help tie the structure together and form the characteristic interconnected web pattern.
---
SubWebs Coverage  :
Controls how much of the web area is filled with smaller connecting strands (sub‑webs).
Higher values increase the density of secondary connections across the structure.
---
Straight Web Length  :
Defines the length of the initial straight strand generated before branching begins.
Higher values produce longer straight sections and increase the distance between the origin and the first branching point.
---
First Branch Length  :
Controls the length of the primary branches generated from the straight segment.
This parameter determines how far the main branches extend from the branching point.
---
Second Branch Length  :
Defines the length of secondary branches that grow from the primary branches.
These are typically shorter and contribute to finer structural details within the web.
---
First Branch Expansion  :
Controls the angular spread of the primary branches.
Higher values result in a wider distribution of the first‑level branches.
---
Second Branch Expansion  :
Defines the angular spread of secondary branches.
Increasing this value causes secondary strands to disperse more widely across the web.
---
Web Curvature  :
Controls the overall curvature applied to the web strands.
Lower values produce straighter, more rigid strands, while higher values introduce more bending and irregularity, resulting in a more natural and organic appearance.
---
Web Thickness  :
Defines the overall thickness of the generated web strands.
Lower values create thin, realistic spider silk, while higher values produce thicker strands that may be more suitable for stylized visuals or distant rendering.
---
Spider Web Material  :
Specifies the material assigned to the generated web.
This material controls the visual appearance of the strands, including properties such as color, transparency, reflections, and shading behavior.across the structure.
