Introduction
Copying properties, modifiers, constraints, and materials from the Active Object to selected objects in Blender is a common action. However, when it comes to animation, that convenience has been absent—until now. AnimCopy is the indispensable add‑on that revolutionises your workflow by letting you copy animation data from one object to many, saving you significant time and effort. In the intricate world of Blender animation, where precision and fluidity are paramount, AnimCopy emerges as a game‑changer, streamlining animation‑copying tasks inside Blender’s editors like never before.
Overview
The AnimCopy add‑on empowers Blender users with a robust toolset for seamlessly transferring keyframe data between objects. Whether you’re crafting complex character performances or intricate mechanical rigs, AnimCopy enhances your workflow, shaving hours off repetitive tasks.Usage Instructions
AnimCopy User InterfaceInstall the add‑on, open the Graph Editor, then Right‑Click to reveal the AnimCopy menu. From there you’ll access operators tailored to every copying task:
Operators
- Copy F‑Curves — Copy the values, timing, and ease of the active F‑Curve’s keyframes. Data is stored in the clipboard for later use.
- Paste Ease — Paste only the handle shapes (interpolation and easing) onto selected curves. Choose absolute handles or preserve handle types; invert or align angles as needed.
- Paste Timing — Paste frame positions (and optionally values) from the copied keys. Replace existing keys or append; preserve handle types, lengths, angles, and values.
Key Features
- Selective Copying — Copy all curves, only transform curves, only selected curves, or just selected keyframes.
- Modifier Support — Transfer Noise, Cycles, Envelope, and other F‑Curve modifiers intact.
- Dimension Remapping — Map X→Y, Y→Z, or invert Quaternion W for precise retargeting.
- Data & Object Animation — Works on object properties, pose bones, shape keys, and more.
- Intuitive Interface — Clear options and tooltips make pro‑level workflows beginner‑friendly.

Copy Animation to Selected
Select your targets, Shift‑Click the animated source, then Right‑Click → AnimCopy › Copy Animation to Selected. The Redo Panel offers:- Target — All / Transform / Selected F‑Curves / Selected Keyframes.
- Shared Action (New Slot) — In Blender 4.4+ share a single Action across many objects; each gets a named slot inside that Action (no duplicated data‑blocks). Disable to create independent Actions per target.
- Copy Modifiers — Include the source curve’s modifiers.
- Copy Mode — Replace or Add.
- Frame Offset — Time‑shift the copied keys.
- Remap X Y Z — Re‑route axes for mismatched rigs.
- Paste Extrapolation — Optionally copy the source curve’s extrapolation mode.
Move F‑Curves to Action
Preparing clips for the NLA Editor used to mean tedious copying and cleaning. Move to Action fixes that:- Destination Action — Pick an existing Action or type a name to create a new one.
- Slotted Smartness — On Blender 4.3+, the operator auto‑creates (or re‑uses) a matching Action Slot so curves stay bound to the right object. On legacy files it gracefully falls back to classic Actions.
- Perfect Preservation — Copies every keyframe, easing, modifier, and group, then removes the originals for a clutter‑free source Action.
Copy Timing & Ease
Need only the feel of an animation? Copy just the timing or handle shapes and paste them onto any other curve—even when the key counts don’t match.
Why AnimCopy?
- Precise — Transfers exactly what you want, nothing you don’t.
- Fast — One right‑click replaces minutes of manual work.
- Future‑Proof — Fully supports Blender 4.4’s Action Slots and older 4.2 files.
