Arabic Text Studio - Correctly Shaped Arabic Text in Any Font

NOQTA in Modeling

Why do my Arabic letters come out disconnected and reversed in Blender?
Blender's built-in text object draws every character in its isolated form, left to right. It applies no Arabic joining rules (initial, medial, final) and no right-to-left ordering. Arabic Text Studio shapes the string with HarfBuzz before creating it, so the letters come out joined and in the correct order.
Does it work with Persian, Urdu and Pashto?
Yes - and Kurdish (Sorani), Sindhi, Uyghur, Malay (Jawi) and Balochi. The shaping is read from the font's own OpenType tables rather than a hard-coded language list, so any language written in Arabic script works as long as the font has the glyphs. The bundled fallback font fills in what is missing.
Can I colour the harakat differently from the letters?
Yes. In Separate For Colouring switch on Separate Harakat and the diacritics become their own object, then give them a colour under Separated Families. The same works for Quranic pause marks, numbers and the ornate parentheses used around ayah numbers.
What happens if my font is missing a glyph?
The fallback font fills it in instead of leaving an empty box, and it substitutes only the missing glyph so the joining of the surrounding letters stays intact. Amiri ships inside the add-on under the OFL, so this works from the first install, and you can point it at a different font if you prefer.
Can I animate each Arabic letter on its own?
Yes. Choose Letters under Split before creating, or use Structure on an existing text. Each letter becomes its own object with its own origin, parented to a single empty. The joined shapes are worked out before the split, so the letters keep the forms they had in the word.
Do I need an internet connection or pip to install it?
No. The shaping engine, fontTools and the fallback font are all bundled in the .zip. Install it from Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install and it is ready - no terminal, no downloads. It runs on Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon included) and Linux, on Blender 4.2 and up, with a legacy build included for 3.6 to 4.1.
