Cookie Cutter Maker
Version 1.0.1 · Blender 4.2 or newer · tested on 4.2 LTS and 5.1
Draw a shape, type a name or bring in a logo, and get a cutter with a thin, sharp blade and a sturdy flange, at the size you need. Cutters are one of the easiest 3D prints to sell: this makes them in seconds.
1. Install
The download contains two files. Use the one that matches how you install add-ons:
- cookie_cutter_maker-1.0.1.zip (Blender extension, recommended): drag it into Blender, or go to Edit > Preferences > Get Extensions, open the drop-down arrow at the top right, choose Install from Disk… and pick the zip. Do not unzip it.
- cookie_cutter_maker-1.0.1-legacy.zip (classic add-on folder): Edit > Preferences > Add-ons, drop-down arrow, Install from Disk…. Use this one if you manage add-ons as folders.
Make sure it is enabled, then in the 3D Viewport press N and open the Cookie Cutter tab. It has no extra dependencies.
2. How to use it
- Select a closed curve, a text object or a flat mesh outline (for example an imported SVG logo).
- Press N in the 3D Viewport and open the Cookie Cutter tab.
- Set the size of the longest side in mm, the cutter height, the blade thickness and the flange.
- Click Make cutter. A new cutter object appears at the 3D cursor; export it as STL and print it flange down.
3. Settings
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Model units | 1 unit = 1 mm | How big one Blender unit is. All sizes are entered in mm. |
| Size (longest side) mm | 70 | 10 to 400. The flange adds 2 × flange width. |
| Cutter height mm | 14 | 4 to 60. |
| Blade thickness mm | 0.8 | 0.4 to 4. Two nozzle widths gives a sharp blade. |
| Flange height mm | 2.0 | 0.6 to 10. |
| Flange width mm | 4.0 | 1 to 20. |
Model units: STL files have no units and are almost always in millimetres, while Blender's default scene counts 1 unit as 1 metre. Set Model units to 1 unit = 1 mm for imported STLs, or leave it on Scene to follow Scene > Units.
4. Limits
Needs a closed, filled outline lying flat in the object's XY plane. Parts or letters that touch can give overlapping walls (slicers handle this). Use food-safe filament and practices if the cutter touches food.
5. Support and licence
