# EASYSWAY DOCUMENTATION

# INSTALLATION

To use it in another project, append P2_EasySway from the included Blender file, or place the Blender file in a configured Asset Library and add the asset from the Asset Browser.

# QUICK START

1. Select a mesh object.
2. Add P2_EasySway as a Geometry Nodes modifier.
3. Enable Auto Sway for scene-time playback.
4. Adjust Strength and Speed.
5. Scrub or play the timeline.

# ROOT AND GEOMETRY SETTINGS

Exclude Vertex Group — A float attribute or vertex group used as an analysis mask. Geometry with non-zero values is excluded from analysis.

Root Vertex Group — An optional vertex group for specifying the root manually. Vertices with weights of 0.5 or greater are used to calculate the root position. This takes priority over automatic root settings.

Per Mesh Island — Processes each mesh island separately after exclusion. Disable it to treat all geometry included in the analysis as one unit.

Flip Root Mode — Inverts the automatic root-mode decision. Geometry detected with an end root is treated as center-root geometry, while geometry detected with a center root is treated as end-root geometry.

Reverse Direction — Uses the detected endpoint on the opposite side as the root in end-root mode. A manually specified Root Vertex Group takes priority.

# MOTION CONTROLS

Strength — Overall sway amount.

Speed — Playback speed of automatic motion. Negative values reverse its time direction.

Noise Speed — Rate at which the one-dimensional noise changes. Set it to zero to hold the noise phase.

Sine / Noise Mix — Blends the common sway strength between sine motion and one-dimensional noise. Zero is sine; one is noise.

# FALLOFF

Falloff Range — Controls the width of the root-to-tip transition.

Falloff Curve — Controls the shape of the root-to-tip influence. Higher values keep more of the root region stiff.

# AUTO SWAY

Auto Sway — Uses scene time when enabled.

Animation Time — Manual time value used when Auto Sway is disabled. Keyframe this value for direct timing, pauses, reversals, or loop setup.

# WIND

Direction Object — Optional object whose local +X axis defines a directional bias.

Wind Strength — Amount of directional bias. Zero disables the bias. This control is artistic and does not calculate physical wind.

# SEED AND PHASE

Unique Object Phase — Adds a stable object-based phase so duplicated objects do not all move together.

Island Phase Variation — Blends between one shared phase and a random phase per analyzed mesh island.

Seed — Changes the stable random phase assignment.

# MODIFIER STACK

EasySway analyzes the geometry available at its position in the modifier stack. Place topology-generating modifiers above EasySway when their result should be analyzed, or below EasySway when they should process the already-deformed output.

Multiple EasySway modifiers can be stacked to combine motion. Evaluation cost increases with each additional modifier.

# LOOSE EDGES AND BONE CONSTRAINTS

Loose edges can be deformed directly. They may be used as guide geometry in a separate Blender constraint setup for bones. EasySway does not create bones, constraints, or weights automatically.

# LIMITATIONS

- No collision detection
- No cloth or soft-body dynamics
- No automatic armature creation
- Noise motion is not automatically guaranteed to form a seamless loop
- Ambiguous or branching geometry may require a manual root vertex group
- Camera-parallel root-to-tip directions intentionally produce little or no visible sway
- Performance depends on evaluated topology and modifier-stack complexity

# COMPATIBILITY

- Blender 5.0+
- Geometry Nodes required
- No external dependencies
