    Ryan,
I remember picking up this addon when it first started and I am shocked at how far it has come. Please keep up your awesome work, do you have any plans for a smoke sim addon? Will V2 of Flip Fluids be a total new addon?

Thanks for the review! It's been a pleasure for us to work on over the years. The FLIP Fluids 2.0 project is a complete re-write of both the simulation engine and addon, but it will be included as a free update to this product. We hope to use this new engine to develop other simulation tools in the future, and smoke could be a possibility. However, simulations outside of liquids will likely be released as a separate product in order to fund development.

Hi, FLIP Fluids 1.8.3 will be released to add Blender 4.4 support either today or tomorrow (Friday) depending on how testing goes.

If you know what you do , this addon is awesome. If you don't know what you do , it may leads you to hysterical crisis because it is pretty much complex for a beginner.

It's about voxel water so it's a bit of notions you may have to learn and there are some hints I seen like the fact we must replicate wind artificially as there is no decent wind option in Blender working with Flip Fluids. It's not a deal breaker because the forces techniques we can use will replicate pretty much wind and also , there is always the possibility to add a displacement effect simulating some more subtle windy look. I personally use force fields combined sometimes with Vortex Addon or displacement layer. It depends.

If you don't have a fast machine , preparing a simulation can take hours and even a day , just be aware. I admitt I had faster experiences on Cinema4d for preparing frames in the cache. I felt it was a bit faster but maybe it is linked to the core of Blender itself , I don't know. It stays the most powerful photorealistic and physically accurate water you could find .

Be aware that some simulations may be harder to make with this addon like fulling a glass of water. You must play with the options sometimes to compensate an apparent " loss " of volume or inexact time for your glass to be filled. It can be a bit tricky and sometimes, your mesh has to be adjusted because if it's the wrong size , fluid can pass through when falling from a certain height.

Like I told , if you already have experience with simulations , you'll instantly love it. If you're new , just don't panic , it's less complicated than it looks. You just have not to be intimidated , look tutorials. Most of the times , the error is behind the keyboard , not in the addon . It happens but most of the time, we just have to take time to learn.

It is worth the price if you really like to play or work on these realistic scenes. I suggest a high end PC to do medium to complicated scenes. It's one of the most hungry type of work so don't expect to obtain real-time even after cache is done ... I don't even have it and I'm on 4080 Super GPU with 96GB RAM and I7-14700k. There is a way to work with Voxel water and it ofter needs us to begin our scene at very low resolution to test and gradually , we crank it up when sure about the next steps.

Have fun guys !!! As an autistic person , I don't make money but I spend each $$ I got on Blendermarker addons and I didn't missed my shot this time. Sometimes, I almost do a gigantic marketing study before to select and Addon I want as autistic people are really stiff on their wish of excellence sometimes. If I tell you this is super usefull , believe me.

Don't forget to cancel the automatic shutdown Power Plan of your desktop before going to bed while your big river animation is rendering ! loll

This addon comes with a lot of tutorials so ... it's not lacking information on how to proceed.

Excellent Addo, intuitive and effective. In use this is far more stable and far easier to implement than trying to set up via the Blender UI

Next Update i wish u put " Wet Map funtion" to make it more realistic

    • Ryan Guy

Thanks for the review! A function to automate generating wetmaps would be very useful to avoid the manual work of setting this up in the scene. We had this type of feature in development, but we are currently waiting for Blender bug fix or a workaround to make this function possible (reported here: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/issues/117186).

Desperately needs a preset thumbnail inventory to abstract away the complex workflows of figuring out viscosity/bubbles etc. Additionally, simulating small water detail collisions with deforming meshes seems borderline computationally unfeasible even on an rtx3070. A lot of work just to get a silly lawn sprinkler effect. Also, stopping the inflow also pauses the sim, so our sprinkler freezes its stream mid air. lol funny, but a waste of money for the scene we needed. =)

Thanks for the review and feedback! The FLIP Fluids addon simulator runs entirely on the CPU, so the RTX 3070 GPU will not aid in the simulation computation, only the render. More information on CPU usage and performance can be found on this page: https://github.com/rlguy/Blender-FLIP-Fluids/wiki/Performance-Notes-and-Tips Feel free to contact us here or at [email protected] if you run into any issues - some of the problems described may be able to be avoided with some adjustments to the simulation setup.

After trying to follow a tutorial on making fluid simulations and being floored, I decided to give this a go, because frankly it looked amazing. And yeah, it is amazing. It's simple to get started...I am a beginner with 3D, but this makes it fun. Thank you.

I am floored at how good this addon is. It can handle inflow sizes at lower resolutions that Blender's native fluid simulation couldn't DREAM of. I also greatly appreciate how much work went into making it actually easy to apply materials to the fluids, and change its parameters all within the Flip Fluids UI. The explanations of what everything does by hovering over are also greatly appreciated.

I made this purchase today only because you said we get FLIP 2.0 for free. Thank you for the soul crushing work you put in to make this masterpiece.

Thanks for the support! From the start we have always had a goal to provide all updates to the addon at no extra cost, even for large updates such as the FLIP Fluids 2.0 project. It has truly been a delight for us to continue development of the addon over the years, and it's largely due to the kindness and support from the Blender community that has made this a wonderful experience.

Incredibly stable! I killed Blender over 100 times by built-in fluid sim, but this sim never kill Blender.
