Glared2 - Light And Bloom Fx In Real-Time
Does Glared2 work with both Eevee and Cycles?
Yes. Glared2 runs inside Blender’s Realtime Compositor, so it works with both Eevee and Cycles as long as the Realtime Compositor is supported by your Blender version.
Can I animate all the effects?
Yes. Every control in Glared2 is keyframeable, so you can animate intensity, color, thresholds, streak behavior, aberrations, and more.
What’s new in Glared2 compared to version 1?
Version 2 adds the ability to export each light-effect pass separately (as EXR multilayer or single files). This allows fine-tuning and external compositing in tools like DaVinci Resolve or After Effects.
Can I use Glared2 on images, video footage, or EXR sequences?
Yes. Glared2 works on anything Blender can display in the compositor or the viewport: 3D scenes, still images, imported footage, or EXR sequences.
Do I need to understand the compositor to use Glared2?
No. Glared2 automatically creates and manages a single nodegroup at the end of the compositor pipeline. All controls are available directly in the add-on panel, with no need to edit nodes manually.
Why don’t I see the effect in my viewport?
Check that the Realtime Compositor is enabled and supported by your Blender build. Also verify that your viewport shading is set to Rendered mode (Eevee or Cycles).
Does Glared2 support transparency and alpha channels?
Not at the moment. Because Glared2 operates inside the Realtime Compositor using screen-space processing, the original alpha channel of your render or footage is overridden when Glared2 is applied. This means transparency is not preserved, and the output becomes fully opaque. This is a current limitation of the Realtime Compositor and the technique Glared2 relies on. We are monitoring Blender’s development closely and will add proper alpha support as soon as the compositor makes it technically possible.
