  I would love to give this more stars but I find it frustrating to use, particularly Boxcutter. Despite having object orientation selected, the cut ends up out in space somewhere. The other quirks I can chalk up to a lack of familiarity, but this makes it nearly useless. I didn't want to gripe about this here but I have been unable to find where I can submit a question. Supposedly this link had such a place, but couldn't find it. (https://hardops-manual.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq/#how-do-i-update-hard-ops-boxcutter). I'm using Blender 3.3 and yes, I did update to the latest version, closed and restarted Blender.

  Having a drawing appear in an incorrect location is a result of selection typically. Default unmodified behavior draws on the surface of the selected object if the beginning of the operation is on the surface of the selected object.

  The above link shows me enabling the latest version and demonstrating that aspect.
  The next area to investigate is the alignment area.

  If set to object, it will align to the object if the drawing originates on the surface. If a surface is not detected, view is used in order to keep things moving.

  When It instals in Blender 3.2.2 show some error messages like this:

  Have been using for a few months and new update came out so installed it and now BoxCutter cannot be added to blender.. frustrating as now i need to wait for a response.

  If it would work with macos and magic mouse scrolling it would get 5 stars.
  Messy menus (basic as well as pies)
  Not everyone is working with key-shortcuts, especially when using blender and other software...
  why not make boxcutter and HardOps one tool...

  anyways, maybe later, development is up notch, can't be better.
  Especially the videos are very helpful for the people who don't develop this tools,... :-))

  Love this add-on. The learning of all it's parts is a bit hard as the website and any youtube videos don't explain things clearly, eg what buttons was press as he talks. Also be aware the current build of HOps 0097.4 does not work with Blender 2.8 as of late November.

  make sure Blender is up to date. https://builder.blender.org/download/
  Also forward any errors that get displayed to us and we can get them resolved but I am constantly updating Blender and ensuring tools remain working.

  I want to love this addon but it's incredibly frustrating to use - the grid doesn't align precisely to object origin, meaning that the booleans created with it aren't aligned either which can cause a lot of headaches. (talking about the non-static grid here)

  Happy to provide videos/screenshots of the grid not aligning to devs.

  Addon either crashes upon activating or causes my system to get laggy/clunky.
  Quite disappointed - would get a refund if I could.

  Once up to date, you will be good to go. Unfortunately older versions of the addon can't work with an ever changing blender so updates are required. I hope that helps and reduces confusion. Blender changes over time and this requires updating.
