Hat Generator

ZEG in Modeling

Installation

In Blender open Edit, Preferences, Get Extensions, then use Install from Disk and pick the hat_generator zip.

Usage

  1. Open the Hat tab in the 3D viewport sidebar (N). With no hat selected, click the picture to choose one of the 103 hat types, or browse the seven families, and add it at the 3D cursor. You can also use Shift+A, Mesh, Hat.
  2. The card at the top shows the type, its size in cm and its face count. Surprise makes a new random hat, Vary changes the current one a little, the palette button picks a random finish and the arrow resets the type.
  3. The icon tabs hold every setting: Crown (shape, panels, seams, crease, pinch, top points, tilt, mini hat or hood), Brim (brim, visor, turn-up, waves, edge and stitching), Band & Trim (band, bow, cuff, ear flaps, chin strap, sweatband, closure), Extras (decoration, pompom, tassel, veil or scarf, wings, patch, mortarboard), Materials (fabrics, colors, wear, metal, stitching) and Output (hat size and head shape, detail, parts, Photo Studio, Convert to Mesh, Delete).
  4. Every picture choice opens a gallery: click the picture next to a setting to see all its options.

Low detail is game-ready; High detail is for close-up renders. Photo Studio adds a seamless backdrop, softboxes and a camera ready to render.
