Installation

1. Download the history_bookmark_pro.zip (or .py folder) file.

1. Open Blender.

1. Go to Edit > Preferences.

1. Select the Add-ons tab.

1. Click Install... (or the arrow icon in Blender 4.2+) and select the downloaded file.

1. Enable the checkbox next to History Bookmark Pro to activate it.

Getting Started

1. In the 3D Viewport, press N to open the Sidebar.

1. Click on the History Bookmark Pro tab.

• History: Shows your recent operations.

• Bookmarks: Shows your saved scene snapshots.

Features

History Tracking

• Auto Mode (Default): Automatically records every compatible operation you perform.

• Manual Mode: Only records steps when you click the Record button. You can toggle this mode in the panel header or Add-on Preferences.

• Visual List: See exactly what steps you have taken. The active state is highlighted.

Bookmarks

• Save New Bookmark: Click to create a snapshot of the current scene.

• Restore: Select a bookmark from the list and click Restore (or the refresh icon) to revert the entire scene to that state.

• Rename: Give your bookmarks meaningful names (e.g., "Before Boolean", "Layout A").

• Delete: Remove bookmarks you no longer need to free up disk space.

Undo & Redo

• Undo to Selected: Select any item in the History list and click this button. Blender will undo multiple steps at once to reach that exact state.

• Redo Last Undo: If you undo too far, a "Redo" button will appear, allowing you to recover the last undone steps.

Preferences

• History Record Mode: Choose between Auto (automatic recording) or Manual.

• Max History Items: Set the maximum number of history steps to keep in the list (default: 50).

• Compact History Labels: If enabled, shortens the descriptions in the history list to save UI space.

• Auto Cleanup: If enabled (default), the add-on will automatically delete all temporary bookmark files and history snapshots when you close Blender. Disable this if you want bookmarks to persist between sessions (advanced usage).

Technical Notes

• Storage: Bookmarks are saved as temporary .blend files in your system's temporary directory. They can be large if your scene is heavy.

• Performance: Saving a bookmark takes as long as saving your file normally.

• Safety: The add-on uses standard Blender undo/redo operators and file saving mechanisms. However, always save your main file manually before performing risky experimental operations.
