Industrial Procedural Building Generator

Quad Lab in Presets

IPBG 2.3.0

THE BIGGEST IPBG UPGRADE YET

Since version 1.8.0, nearly every major system has been rebuilt or improved, including building generation, procedural detailing, textures, performance, viewport workflow, and production baking.

NEW PROCEDURAL ARCHITECTURE ENGINE

  • Generate complete industrial buildings directly inside Blender.

  • Seeds now create substantially different architectural forms instead of minor variations of the same structure.

  • New forms include offset towers, terraces, bridges, cantilevers, portal frames, service pods, suspended sections, angled walls, hero spires, and occasional sci-fi structures.

  • Buildings are assembled from clean, closed architectural components within a single Blender object.

  • Improved generation reduces pinched corners, malformed panels, unnecessary cuts, and unusably thin sections.

  • Randomize multiple selected IPBG buildings simultaneously without affecting unselected objects.

  • Buildings now generate at their current location.

GIANT INDUSTRIAL PIPE SYSTEM

Thirteen new Giant Pipe assets add large-scale infrastructure to suitable facades.

  • Placement considers available space, facade dimensions, height, orientation, scale, and spacing.

  • Create facade networks, service runs, or a mixture of both.

  • Control spawn count, scale, variation, spacing, wall offset, preferred height, and pipe type.

  • Giant Pipes have an independent seed and also respond to All Seed.

  • Pipes remain efficiently instanced until Bake Mesh is used.

  • Existing IPBG pipe materials are reused instead of duplicated.

SMARTER PROCEDURAL DETAILS

  • Cables now follow exterior wall surfaces instead of the raw base mesh.

  • Hidden cable runs beneath or inside buildings are greatly reduced.

  • Wall sockets are added automatically at cable endpoints.

  • Smoother routing creates more natural curves with fewer impossible turns.

  • Pipe generation better rejects hidden, internal, and malformed paths.

  • Structural supports appear around overhangs, exposed ends, and unsupported edges.

  • Large spans can receive multiple supports while intersecting pieces are filtered automatically.

  • Wall generation better avoids malformed panels, pinched corners, excessive cuts, and destructive topology.

  • Object Scatter, Steel Beams, Details, Pipes, Cables, Seams, Giant Pipes, and other major systems can be controlled independently.

COMPLETELY REWORKED TEXTURES

The bundled texture system has been rebuilt for significantly better efficiency.

  • Choose between included 1K, 2K, and 4K texture sets.

  • 2K is now the default balance between quality and performance.

  • Use 1K for large environments and background structures.

  • Use 4K for close-up work.

  • Texture identities remain consistent between resolution tiers.

  • Resolution changes require confirmation before heavier textures are loaded.

  • All textures are packed into the Blender libraries, so external texture folders are no longer required.

  • Material and Water Smudge controls are now organized inside the Materials section.

Controlled testing measured:

  • Approximately 86% less packed texture data.

  • Approximately 75% lower estimated decoded texture memory.

  • Approximately 40% smaller default runtime setup.

PRODUCTION BAKING WORKFLOW

BETA

IPBG now includes a two-stage workflow for converting procedural structures into reusable production assets.

Bake Mesh

  • Converts the selected procedural structure into an editable mesh.

  • Preserves a hidden copy of the original procedural object.

  • Realizes generated instances and prepares the mesh for texture baking.

Bake Textures

  • Converts multiple source materials into reusable texture maps.

  • Uses multi-tile UV layouts for large structures.

  • Supports Base Color, Roughness, Metallic, Normal, Ambient Occlusion, Emission, Alpha, and Height maps.

  • Choose 1K, 2K, 4K, 8K, or a custom resolution.

  • Control the output folder, image format, quality, texel density, and maps.

  • Smart Optimized output uses JPEG for suitable color maps and PNG for technical maps requiring lossless storage.

  • Live progress reporting displays the current stage, material, map, and completion percentage.

  • UV validation helps prevent islands from being placed outside the generated tile range.

CLEANER INTERFACE

The N-panel has been reorganized around the main workflow:

  1. Generate a structure.

  2. Select a preset.

  3. Adjust geometry.

  4. Control materials.

  5. Bake the final result.

MAJOR PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS

Controlled Blender 5.2 testing measured:

  • Up to 93% faster Generate Building base-mesh generation.

  • Approximately 74% faster Generate City base-mesh generation.

  • Approximately 44% fewer faces in generated building base meshes.

  • Approximately 41% fewer faces in generated city base meshes.

  • Approximately 52% fewer realized cable triangles.

  • Approximately 47% fewer triangles in a default fully generated structure.

  • Approximately 98% less structural seam geometry while preserving its intended function.

  • Up to 13% faster Build 1 Geometry Nodes evaluation with all systems enabled.

  • Approximately 86% less packed texture data.

  • Approximately 75% lower estimated decoded texture memory.

Actual performance varies depending on the seed, enabled systems, texture resolution, scene complexity, and hardware.
