Lattice Deform

Unik Studio in Presets

Can I bend along Z? My bend only goes one way.
Yes, with the `Direction` dropdown. A length axis leaves two cross axes free, and a bend only travels along one of them. Set `Length Axis` to Z and `Direction` to X or Y to choose which way it curves. This is what lets you wrap a flat plane around a cylinder, like a label on a bottle.
What is Live Auto-Fit?
The cage re-fits itself whenever its objects move, rotate or scale. Useful while blocking out a layout. Turn it off once the arrangement is settled, since it re-fits on every dependency-graph update.
Opacity does not seem to do anything in Object Mode.
Blender has no alpha channel on the lattice wire theme colour, so `Opacity` drives the lattice object's own RGBA colour instead. That is only visible when the viewport shading colour is set to `Object`.
Where are the controls?
Press `N` in the 3D Viewport and open the `LatticeTools` tab.
Why is my lattice the wrong size?
It should never be. The cage's world extent matches the selection's bounding box exactly at every resolution, including asymmetric grids like 2×5×8.
What is LatticeDeform?

LatticeTools is a Blender 5.0+ add-on that builds a correctly sized lattice around your selection in one click, then gives you fourteen procedural deformers, a sculpt brush, mirrored point editing, pose animation, and baking.

It is for artists who want C4D-style deformers and fast lattice setup without hand-scaling a lattice object every time.
Can I change a deformer's axis after adding it?
Yes. Select the deformer's shape key, then change `Length Axis`, `Direction` or `Anchor`. LatticeTools rebuilds that deformer in place, keeping its value, keyframes and drivers. No second shape key is created.
I hid the cage and now I cannot get it back.
You can. `Hide Cage` hands the selection to a bound object, so the panel keeps showing the cage's controls and the `Show Cage` button stays available. It also clears the outliner's monitor-icon disable.
Does the add-on change my theme?
Temporarily, while you are editing a lattice, so the control points are readable. It restores your theme when you leave Edit Mode, and repairs it on next startup if Blender crashed mid-session.
Why did my resolution jump when I added a deformer?
Some deformers need enough control planes to read correctly. Bulge, Pinch, Wave and Flare need at least three points along the axis and an odd count. LatticeTools raises the resolution automatically and tells you it did.
Can I keyframe deformers directly?
Yes. Each deformer is a shape key, so its value can be keyframed like any other shape-key value.
What does Anchor do?
`Center` deforms symmetrically around the middle. `Base` plants the bottom so the deformation grows upward — a swaying tree, a bowing figure. `Top` plants the top.
How do I fit a lattice to part of a mesh?
Enter Edit Mode, select the vertices you want, and use the `Fit to Selection` panel. LatticeTools fits the cage to those vertices and creates a vertex group so only they deform.
Hiding the cage stopped my deformation. Why?
It should not. `Hide Cage` only hides the cage in the viewport; the deformation keeps running.
Is LatticeDeform destructive?
No, not until you ask it to be. The deformation lives in a Lattice modifier, so your mesh data is untouched. `Remove` deletes the cage and leaves the mesh exactly as it was. Only `Bake This Lattice`, `Bake All Lattices` and `Apply & Remove` write the deformation into the mesh.
  • For test. Fits a lattice to the selected objects, plus point size and colour. No deformers or animation.
