Turn layered SVG artwork into clean, controllable 3D reliefs — optimized for realtime or high-detail rendering.
Layered SVG to 3D is a Blender add-on for converting layered SVG artwork into editable 3D geometry with independent control over each level.
Instead of treating SVG import as simple extrusion, the add-on provides two dedicated production workflows:
Game / Realtime
- Lightweight optimized topology
- Adaptive contour sampling
- Front-focused bevel / chamfer
- Topology-aware handling of complex contours and holes
- Designed for realtime and game-ready assets
High Detail / Render
- Denser geometry for smoother SVG contours
- Higher fidelity for close-up and rendered output
- Independent control over depth and bevel per level
One layered SVG → two purposeful 3D pipelines.
Each SVG element becomes its own Level, with controls for:
- Global Scale
- Layer Gap
- Thickness per Level
- Offset per Level
- Bevel per Level
- Layered / Solid Relief depth behavior
When the result is ready, Finalize converts it into ordinary Blender mesh geometry for further editing, cleanup or export.
Realtime optimization
The Realtime workflow is designed to reduce unnecessary geometry while preserving the visual character of the source artwork.
On one complex multi-layer test illustration:
High Detail / Render: ~35,110 tris
Game / Realtime: ~3,013 tris
Actual polycount depends on the SVG artwork and settings.
Suitable for
Stylized illustrations, logos, signs, badges, icons, decorative graphics and other layered vector artwork.
The add-on has been tested with complex compound paths, holes, multiple holes, concave shapes, disconnected islands, circles, large bevel values and multi-level SVG artwork.
