🚀 New in LM Studio: Automatic Gobos & Custom Galleries!
I’m excited to share a massive workflow upgrade coming to LM Studio! I've been working hard on making complex lighting setups completely frictionless, starting with Automated Gobos.
Why use Gobos? Gobos are textures or videos projected through your lights to create realistic shadows, reflections, and atmosphere. Whether it’s a static window blind shadow or an animated loop (like moving water or tree leaves), they instantly make any scene feel cinematic and grounded.
What’s new? I've built a new automated system that handles all the tedious node setup for you. Even better, you are no longer limited to built-in presets! Thanks to a brand-new custom Icon Gallery I built, you can now seamlessly import your own gobo libraries.
Simply upload a .zip file/folder containing your own images or .mp4 videos, and LM Studio will automatically unpack them, generate a gallery interface, and allow you to instantly project your own static or animated gobos into your scene with a single click.
Thank you all for the continued support, I can't wait to see what you create with this!

Core Lighting Features
- Standard & Color Gobos: Project crisp black-and-white shadow masks, or instantly switch to vibrant full-color image projections mapping cleanly via emission.
- Real-World Calibration: Explicit Blackbody Temperature targets (default 5500K) and fully unlinked Emission Strength multipliers directly inside your 3D Viewport.
- Mask Cropping: Choose between perfectly constrained Square bounds or responsive Circular falloff masks mathematically applied through shader nodes automatically.
- 1-Click 3-Point Lighting: Automatically spawn and rig a Key, Fill, and Rim light, mathematically tracked exactly to your active subject.
- Perfect Spatial Orientation: Built-in 180-degree Z-Axis pipeline ensures your texture projections orient flawlessly out of the box every time.
Procedural Atmospheric Volumetrics
- 1-Click World Volumetrics: Blanket your entire scene in dense atmospheric fog with a single click and slider.
- Localized Object Volumes: Automatically generate procedurally constrained volumetric domain bounds perfectly surrounding any active object in your scene.
- Cinematic Color Presets: Rapidly alter fog grading with custom-built shader-node ramps designed for Blood Moon, Nebula, Ghostly, and Fire/Cinematic visual profiles.
- Algorithmic Noise Structures: Direct volume density procedurally using natively instanced algorithms (Voronoi, Wave, Magic, Checker, Noise).
- Non-destructive Reverts: Cleanly reset your complex world atmospheric rigs instantly without breaking existing shader pipelines.
