Locknodes

kunemann in Addons

Setup

Open Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > LockNodes and set a master password. It's stored only in your local Blender preferences, salted and hashed — never in a shipped .blend. Locking uses this password automatically; unlocking always requires typing it.

Locking a node group
01
Select the node group node in a Shader, Compositor or Geometry Nodes editor.
02
Open the N-panel and go to the LockNodes tab.
03
Click Lock Nodes. Choose soft lock (hides the internals, fully reversible) or hard lock (deletes them outright, with an optional local JSON backup first).
04
Save and reload the file once — a hard lock isn't final until then. The panel shows a reminder until you do.
Unlocking

Select the locked group, open the LockNodes N-panel tab, enter the password and click Unlock. If the group has locked sub-groups nested inside it, Unlock All rebuilds every one of them in a single click.

Placeholder appearance

A locked group shows a flat placeholder in its base color, optionally tiled with a watermark text of your choice (e.g. "Full version on SuperHive"). Both are set in the add-on preferences and apply to every group you lock afterward.
