Once installed this small addon adds a new primitive to the Mesh menu.
Phyllotaxis describes an arrangement of elements, which when viewed from above presents a series of spirals, one series right-handed, the other left-handed with the number of these spirals representing adjacent numbers on the Fibonacci sequence. Don't worry if this all sounds gobbledegook. It is just an arrangement that is a consequence of how living things grow and can be seen throughout nature from the centres of flowers to the scales of a pine cone or the skin of a pineapple. I wrote this small addon to help me create pine cones, but it could be used as the basis for flowers, cacti, spiral horns or even the gherkin in London. Once installed it will add a mesh type into the mesh menu which can be manipulated to form a wide variety of basic phyllotactic shapes. It was never intended to produce perfect sphere or cylinders, which it will not do, it is much more a tool to produce naturalistic base shapes.
The resultant domes and eggs that are this addons output are less use in themselves, but more form the basis for other forms, where instancing on points can be used to distribute say the seeds to form a realistic sunflower or leaves to form an Agave.
The basic shape is essentially a bullet with the surface divided up into quads. Turn to the documentation tab for the controls that can be used to manipulate it:-
