I've wanted something like this for a long long time! Rag-doll animations produce such a powerful effect, but are so hard to set up and control and tweak after they have been set up. With this addon it becomes possible to experiment and try different options in an iterative way.
I would love if the documentation videos had an audio explanation of the principles to not have to reverse-engineer why the steps work.
Love this addon. Thanks!

TL;DR - Confusing documentation, but does what it says on the tin.
While this addon has confusing and difficult documentation, and for me even required my own scripts to make work, it is very useful once you get it working.
With this addon, I have now successfully added ragdoll physics to my animated character, and can now toggle rag-doll physics on and off at will during my animation.
For my personal use case, I created a script with an "Enable Ragdoll" and "Disable Ragdoll" button, which mass-performs actions that the addon doesn't do itself such as:
* Binding hand IK bones to the hands & feet IK bones to the feet during ragdoll animation
* Mass-editing the "animated" and "follow bone" values on all ragdoll hitboxes to quickly enable/disable ragdoll physics
* Automatically disable physics for ALL frames once animation is baked - otherwise physics will occur on top of your baked animation, making it impossible to return from ragdoll animation to keyframe animation
Currently, with lazy keyframe animation, my result is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0bVvmRaQXM
Does Exactly what it says, although not very easy to set up its a huge time saver over doing this manually, I've spent literally hundreds of hours trying to set up ragdoll animation in the past and have always needed to repeat the process from the start for every new character.
every aspect of this from "generate hitboxes from mesh" to the creation of constraints based on bone position and location, are all individually awesome and save a huge amount of time.
My only minor issue is caused by parent bones that affect movement but do not deform the characters mesh, for example some of my character have a "pelvis" bone that doesnt have a vertex group and doesn't contribute directly to the deformation but is the parent of several bones. Bones in these cases do not create a hitbox therefore the ragdoll has bugged movement since the constraints are missing for the legs and spine to connect to.
also the documentation is a little basic and needs updating, other than this, the addon is WELL worth its price. thanks devs!

You're welcome :D
By the way, if hitboxes haven't been generated for some bones, you can take any object and connect it to the bone as hitbox manually using Ragdol Tools Pie Menu->Connect
useful/timesaver :) as already mentioned docs/video demos could be more inviting
This addon works well when it's updated. The versions of Ragdoll Tools from 2021 to most of 2025 required you to manually compile the code yourself, and update cadence has also been an issue. At roughly an update a year, Ragdoll tools almost never works with the current version of Blender. As of 5.2, it's broken again.
This addon only seems to work for very basic use cases. Alot of rigs will not work well with this addon as it will generate rigid bodies for bones that are not part of the Deformation Skeleton Layer. As far as I can see, there is no way to specify what bones or layers this addon should affect. Therefore if you have a nice rigged character with a nice armature that has lots of of control layers, this addon will not work. Animating a character with only a basic Deformation skeleton is a nightmare, so I can't say this addon is helpful for me. However if you only wish to ragdoll something basic with a character with a basic one layer armature, then this addon will work for you.

Hi.
Yes,automatic generation doesn't work well for complex multi layer rigs
In such case try the following:
1.Define bones that should be controlled by hitboxes
2.Make hitboxes from these bones
https://youtu.be/lobKcsbQqSY?si=5w-UQkfX5EUSdNiS&t=526
3.Connect hitboxes using "Selected to active" method
https://youtu.be/lobKcsbQqSY?si=OcHWsLYkPyUVFblL&t=477
If you have to connect many bones in a row do not call the operator
from pie menu every time.Call it for the first pair and use "Shift-R" for the rest
i dont know why its not creating constraints for the head

Hi.
Check if the neck bone has a hitbox.
If it still doesn't work contact me via private messages.
Everything I tried just ended up with a breakdancing mess of polygon spaghetti and it crashed Blender with alarming frequency. I managed to get a dummy to collapse properly once and as far as I can tell I didn't do anything differently that time to the two dozen other times. Unfortunately It crashed Blender before I could save it so I can't even check to see what I did.
I think this is probably useful for some people, maybe more advanced users, but I couldn't work it out. I've gone with 3 stars because it probably works but if it's not particularly user friendly or stable.
