- Built with Blender's Geometry nodes and allows artists to add complex, highly detailed ruined structure effects quickly and easily without destroying the original mesh or using excessive memory or processing power.
- The ruined portions of the mesh can be procedurally customized in a wide variety of artistic choices.
- The Ruinator uses no python scripts. All of its methods are exposed in annotated geometry nodes. You can use it on the free online render farm, Sheepit.
- Advanced users can modify the annotated NodeTree to further customize The Ruinator such as changing materials, or changing the default debris objects.
- The Ruinator works great with Blender's Eevee or Cycles render engines.
November 2025 update:
- The Ruinator is now an addon. Install Ruinator by installing the November 2025 version "ruinator_1.0.0.zip" as you would other addons.
- You can now use custom debris objects.
- There is an improved Ruinator shader group that makes it easier to integrate the Ruinator's shaders into your existing shaders.
- There is now a wall-thickening option.
The old version of Ruinator (labeled version 08) is still here and can be used an appended Geometry Nodes group.
The new addon portion of The Ruinator was made by Al-Dezel.
