Scene Scanner
What is different in the free version?
The free version is stripped down in the following ways:
Is this photogrammetry?
Nope - and that's why it's faster! The results are more comparable to lidar (where you're interested in the general structure of a scene/object via point clouds).
Point Clouds?
Scene Scanner outputs dense colored point clouds. This is different from a mesh but can still be edited and rendered with Eevee/Cycles. The use case is slightly different from photogrammetry, but you can of course still treat them like objects.
Can I use a different GPU?
Nvidia GPUs only (30xx or 40xx NOT 50xx Blackwell)! The more VRAM the better ;)
Ran out of VRAM?
Large datasets (with a large/giant quality) can be super heavy on the GPU - more VRAM is always better. Try decreasing the FPS (less images), the resolution, and the model quality.
Mac & Linux?
Unfortunately no - requirements are Windows (x64/86) with an Nvidia GPU (30xx or 40xx NOT 50xx Blackwell)
Licensing?
Scene Scanner comes pre-packaged with the Small and Medium models (Apache 2.0 from Depth Anything 3) - there is also an option to download the Large and Giant models (check the license for commercial use).
