Use a focused collection to restrict the target surfaces. Hidden meshes can still be eligible targets.
The materials do not appear to blend.
Use Material Preview or Rendered shading. Check that materials have connected Surface shaders, increase Material Width if needed, and click Build / Refresh Material Blend.
