SF PAINT
21 procedural paint materials for Blender, across the four places
paint actually lives:
WALLS (7) — one Sheen slider rides the whole finish ladder, flat
ceiling to gloss trim. Roller stipple and brush texture. Scuffs, grime,
and peeling that reveals a wood-grain undercoat with lifted flake rims
— the holes read as missing paint, not a pattern.
CAR PAINT (6) — metallic flakes with real sparkle, clearcoat with
orange peel, and a pearl flip-flop two-tone that shifts colour with
viewing angle. Showroom black to candy apple to matte military.
PAINTED METAL (3) — paint over raw metal, with a rust halo at every
wound line: paint, then oxide orange-brown, then bare metal. Wear lands
at corners and edges and skips some entirely — a Wear Random slider
makes every panel's history different.
PAINTED MASONRY (5) — painted brick and cinderblock with the mortar
seams peeling first, plus LA stucco and stucco troweled over block with
the seams ghosting through. Triplanar-projected: the grid lands on any
face, nothing to unwrap.
EVERY CONTROL IS A SLIDER
The 21 materials are starting points, not the product. Sheen, Wear
Amount, Peel Amount, Flake Amount, Edge Bias, Rust Width — tune by
feel. Sheen means the same thing in every group.
100% PROCEDURAL
No image textures, no UVs needed, nothing to bake.
BUILT AND TUNED FOR EEVEE
Judged, gated and optimised under EEVEE — it runs on the laptop you
already have. It renders in Cycles; it was not tuned there and will
look different.
RENDER COST, MEASURED
EEVEE 1080p vs a plain material, subject in frame: car +23%, painted
metal +25%, masonry +28%, walls +41%, fully-aged walls +60%. The aged
variants carry the biggest tax — the aging is the point. Nobody else
publishes this; we think you deserve to know before the deadline.
LICENCE
Royalty-free, single-user. Render whatever you like, commercially or not,
and sell the result — no credit required. The only thing off the table is
repackaging the materials themselves and redistributing them as your own
pack. See LICENSE.txt in the download.
