No, Volume packing is planned for the next update. V1 can only pack or spawn based on the face of a mesh.

no it's geometry nodes
does this require additional settup?
if you open the blender file it's designed to work, otherwise it's a nodegroup so linking or appending from the project file will work as normal.
Anything else?
The process runs a simulation so pressing play is important
