I have both this and Shipwright and they're both really good, but I kinda wish you could combine them to get the best of both worlds. For example, the starships are always long and thin, while Shipwright models are chunkier, but don't have the option to add boosters. Starships have great detail, but Shipwright models are instantly more colourful and realistically rendered out of the box. I wish the panelling on Shipwright was as fine as on starships etc. So I can't help feeling that, at some point, all of Mark's work is going come together for the ultimate spaceship creation addon!

Thanks for this thoughtful review Steve. The Shipwright and the Starship Generator are constructed in different ways: The Shipwright uses my other add-ons to create its shapes, whereas The Starship Generator uses Blender's Geometry Nodes which is relatively new. As Geometry Nodes becomes more sophisticated, so will the Starship Generator, and perhaps it will merge with the Shipwright at some point. For new users I'd recommend checking out the more affordable Starship Generator first and getting in touch by clicking the 'Contact Creator' button on my Blender Market page to discuss ideas: https://blendermarket.com/creators/mark-kingsnorth
Not "game ready" at all. This is great for concept art, but the generated topology is way too problematic to be usable in anything game related.
In the time it takes to clean up the generated model and make it usable for a game, you can create a better looking model by hand.
Rather disappointed, considering that the Shape Generator from the same author is generating better topology, although not without problems either.

Hello Edgar, thank you for your feedback. I’m very sorry to hear that the tool didn’t meet your expectations for game-ready topology. You may want to try unticking the ‘Decimate Faces’ option under the Starship Controls modifier which can improve topology. The add-on is primarily designed for concept art workflows and background models, so I agree that further cleanup and retopology are often required for optimized models. I’d like to hear your ideas for improving the topology to make it more compatible for games - click the ‘Contact the Creator’ link and I’d be happy to explore any suggestions you have, which I may also be able to incorporate for you into the Shape Generator.
It would be a really good fun and very useful for me it but the booster problem remained the same - the seed of the boosters don't work, there is only one booster can be used :/

Hello Erno, I am sorry to see your review following our discussions that took place over April & May as I had mistakenly thought I had answered your question when I no longer received a response. As discussed, the seed on the booster modifier is used to randomly change the booster object: You will, however, need to add another booster object into the Booster Objects Collection to make it change. I have found Boosters to be very user-specific, so I only added one as an example so that you can add your own if you wish. Let me know if you'd like me to show you how to do this. I always endeavour to support my users and genuinely believed this had been resolved.
