Stylized Castle Kit and Generator

NicoHartl in Presets

A modular castle kit in a painterly, hand painted style, together with the Castle Generator, a Blender add-on that builds whole castles along a curve with Geometry Nodes.

What you get (Blender 5.2 or newer)

  • StylizedCastle_Blender_v1.0.zip: StylizedCastleKit.blend with all 69 kit pieces at full detail (LOD0) as an asset library with catalogs, textures packed into the file
  • Stylized_Castle_Generator_v1.0.zip: the Castle Generator add-on (install from disk, do not unzip)
  • Not included in the Blender version: LOD1 and LOD2 meshes, collision meshes and the demo castle maps. These are part of the Unreal Engine, Unity and Godot versions of the kit. In Blender you build castles with the generator.

Castle Generator

Draw a curve and the generator builds the castle along it: walls follow the curve at any angle, round towers stand on its points, and gatehouses or posterns appear where you place a marker. Sliders turn the same castle into a ruin, a building site, an overgrown or a winter castle, light the windows at night, and change stone style, roof colours, roof height, tower size and spacing. Eight presets, a real mesh copy for sculpting and an export to GLB or FBX are in the side panel. The node tree is grouped into readable sections, so you can adapt it.

Stylized Castle Kit

Every stone of the walls and towers is real geometry, laid in uneven courses, so close-ups hold up without unique textures. All 69 pieces are in the Asset Browser with catalogs, so you can also build or extend castles by hand.

  • 14 walls: 4 m curtain walls in two styles, low and tall versions, worn wall, broken wall, breach, postern, gallery wall, stone stairs, corner and joint piers
  • 16 tower pieces: round towers in two sizes with base, plain and window storeys, battlement top, roof ring and ruined top, cone roofs in slate and clay tiles
  • 3 buildings: gatehouse with double door and portcullis, square keep, round keep
  • 8 wooden pieces: fighting gallery, tower gallery rings, two lean-to sheds, scaffolding, treadwheel crane, palisade
  • 18 props: well, cart, barrels, crates, training dummy, weapon rack, market stalls, tents, brazier, flags, banners, stone pile, rubble
  • 10 plants: climbing ivy for walls and towers, hanging ivy, bushes, grass tufts

Technical details

  • 1 unit = 1 m on a 0.5 m grid, walls 4 m long, tower storeys 3 m
  • Walls 3.7k to 9k triangles, tower pieces 0.4k to 7k, gatehouse 25k, keeps 30k and 65k, props 0.04k to 1.2k
  • Textures: 15 maps at 2048 px (stone, slate, clay tile, stone trim and wood trim sets with base colour, normal and ORM), all generated procedurally by Python scripts in Blender: script-built stone and tile geometry baked in Cycles, and trim sheets computed from procedural noise height and colour layers, also baked in Cycles. No texture libraries, no scans, no image generators.
  • Materials use vertex colours for brightness, moss, grime and hue per stone; works in Eevee and Cycles

License

The Python code of the add-on is licensed under the GNU GPL 3.0 or later. The 3D assets, textures and materials are royalty free for use in your own projects, commercial included. You may modify them, but you may not resell or redistribute the assets themselves.

The kit is also available for Unreal Engine, Unity and Godot on Fab and itch.io. Scale and colours match the Stylized Medieval Village Kit, the Stylized Nature Pack and the Stylized Dungeon Kit.

Designed with Claude, modelled procedurally in Blender, reviewed and finished by a 3D artist.
