Gramophone
1920s Syncopator Gramophone
Overview
The gramophone presented is a fully fictional design, inspired by visual elements commonly found in early 20th-century gramophones. It combines historically influenced forms with original design choices.
The brand name “Syncopator” is entirely fictional and does not represent any real-world company. Because both the design and marque are original and invented, this asset is royalty-free and may be used for any purpose, including commercial projects, without restriction.
Model Structure
The model is composed of several distinct components, all organized around a main wooden plinth. The following parts are included:
- Wooden plinth (primary parent object)
- Crank
- Platter
- Tone arm
- Horn
All components are fully rigged, allowing for animation and interaction. For flexibility, the package includes two versions of the model:
- Rigged version
- Un-rigged/ separated version
You can select the version that best suits your pipeline or engine requirements.
Textures & Materials
PBR workflow with PNG images. For convenience and flexibility, the asset includes three texture resolutions:
- 1024 × 1024 (1k)
- 2048 × 2048 (2k)
- 4096 × 4096 (4k)
The model uses:
- One material ("M_Gramophone")
- One UV map
- Baked normal maps for enhanced detail at low geometry cost
This setup allows for efficient rendering while maintaining visual fidelity.
Performance & Optimization
This asset was created with performance in mind, making it suitable for real-time applications such as games and VR, as well as background props in cinematic scenes.
- Approximate vertex/ face count: ≈6,000
- Low vertex density with baked normals
- Non-manifold geometry
- Unnecessary internal or unseen faces have been removed to optimize performance
These optimizations ensure the model remains lightweight without sacrificing visual quality.
Naming Conventions
The included files follow a consistent and industry-standard naming scheme:
| Prefix/ Suffix | Meaning |
| SM_ | Static Mesh |
| M_ | Material |
| T_ | Texture |
| _C | Base Color |
| _R | Roughness |
| _M | Metallic |
| _NGL | Normal OpenGL |
| _NDX | Normal DirectX |
| _O | Opacity |
| _H | Height |
| _A | Ambient Occlusion |
Intended Use
This model is suitable for:
- Cinematics and animation
- Visualization and environment dressing
- Historical or stylized scenes
