Viewport Quest

KacaDev in Interface

Make every modeling session count.

Viewport Quest turns your normal work into progress in a small idle RPG. A knight walks along a thin strip at the bottom of your 3D viewport. While you work, monsters walk up, trade blows and drop gold. Spend that gold on upgrades, hire gold miners, and challenge the boss guarding each floor of an endless tower. You don't change how you work. You just keep working, and the hero keeps climbing.

How it plays

  • Work earns gold. Any real action counts the same: modeling, sculpting, UVs, posing, nodes, painting, add-on tools like MACHIN3tools or Hard Ops, renders and saves. While you work, the hero fights. Every monster that falls drops the gold you've earned since the last one.
  • Gold miners never sleep (while the app is open). Hire 16 tiers of miners, from the humble Vertex Picker up to the Infinite Viewport. They dig every second, and three times faster while you work. Nothing is earned while the app is closed, so the game rewards real time spent working, not leaving it running overnight.
  • Upgrade your hero. Buy Attack and Health levels, and raise your Blender Bonus to make your miners dig even faster while you work.
  • Challenge floor bosses from the N-panel. Each floor has a boss. The panel shows recommended levels for a typical hero. Good gear can carry you a level or two early, so challenging below the recommendation is a real gamble. Losing only costs a one-minute rest.
  • Ten named bosses with their own designs: The Default Cube, N-Gon Lord, Flipped Normal, Non-Manifold Hydra, Stretch Wraith, Overlapping Twins, Spaghetti Nodes, Missing Texture Golem, Firefly Queen and The Crash.
  • Chests and equipment. Every boss drops a chest with a weapon, helm, armor or gold charm in five rarities, from Common to Legendary. Better gear equips itself, and worse gear is sold for gold.
  • Your gear shows on the hero. Each piece changes how he looks: a new helm changes his head, armor changes his body and cape, and every weapon has its own shape. Rarity sets the metal and the effects. Rare blades glint, Epic gear glows, and Legendary weapons sparkle, shed embers and leave a golden trail when they swing.
  • Damage numbers. Every hit pops a number that floats up from the monster or boss, taken from your hero's real Attack stat, so the numbers grow as you do. Crits land bigger in gold. You can turn them off in the preferences.
  • Built for the long haul. The pacing is tuned around 1,000 hours of real work. Floor 50 arrives within your first day of work, and floor 200 is the long-term goal.

Never in the way

  • No unprompted pop-ups or sounds, and nothing ever touches your .blend file or undo history.
  • About 0.07 ms of work per game tick. Every shape on the strip is sent to the GPU in a single batch.
  • The strip hides in camera view, and you can resize it, fade it, or turn its animation off for very heavy scenes.
  • Your progress is saved locally in the add-on's own user folder. No account, no internet, no tracking.
  • If you run two copies of Blender at once, only one of them plays, so work is never counted twice.
