Wobble — Soft-Tissue Secondary Motion

alastorv in Presets

Your character stops. Their body does not.

Wobble adds the motion animators fake by hand. Bellies that bounce on a landing, a tail that keeps swinging after the turn, a dragon whose dewlap lands a beat after the dragon does. Paint where it moves, pick how it moves, press one button.

Click Wobble on: the heat map shows what moves, then the body jiggles

Three clicks

Paint where it moves

1. Paint it. Weight-paint a region. Fifty named regions sit on a clickable body atlas (female, male and neutral, front and back), or Suggest Masks From Rig seeds them from the armature. Mixamo, MMD and VRoid bone names are recognised.

Pick how it moves

2. Pick it. Twenty-one preset families (belly, breast, buttocks, thigh, hair, cloth, tail, wings, animal ears and more), each at Light, Normal, Strong and Max, tuned for seven body builds.

Wobble it: same frame with and without Wobble

3. Wobble it. Generate, play, bake. The simulation bakes into the .blend, so the file you hand over is the file that plays.

Any body. Any tail. Any monster.

Bodies, tails, tiny ones, dragons and whatever this is

A fox tail that keeps swinging

A tiny character whose cap and cheeks bounce

A monster stomp: belly, shoulders and tail jiggle

See exactly what moves

Heat view of what Wobble drives

A heat view shows which parts Wobble drives and how strongly, so nobody has to guess why a shoulder jiggles.

What you get

Features

  • Geometry Nodes solver that bakes with the file.
  • Bones backend: bake to jiggle bones for game engines.
  • Mask tools on weight paint: grow, shrink, feather, relax, sharpen, clean strays, fill holes.
  • Contact: colliders with an adjustable skin gap, straps and ribbons, paired regions pressing on each other.
  • Shake Test and a diagnostics panel that tells you what will go wrong before you bake.
  • Loose parts ride along: spikes, teeth, plates and clothing modelled into the mesh move with the skin.
  • Centimetre scenes ring at the same frequencies as metre scenes.
  • Interface in English and Turkish.

Requirements

  • Blender 5.2 LTS or newer.
  • Tested on Windows x86-64; Linux exercised earlier; macOS not tested.
  • Nothing else to install.

Honest limits

  • Particle hair is not driven. Wobble moves meshes; use hair cards, or drive the hair rig from a mesh strip.
  • Clothing that is a separate object does not follow on its own. Clothing modelled into the body mesh does.

New in 1.0.1

Painting a baked region shows its weights, reopening a file saved mid-paint keeps the brush on the right region, bake always uses the mask as painted now, loose parts ride the skin, and a "Not on the chart" row adds tails, wings, ears and garments in one click.
