Which Blender versions and render engines does it support?

Blender 5.2 or newer, in both Cycles and EEVEE. The X-ray is built in the compositor from its own view layer, so it looks the same in both engines.

Does XScan change my materials or scene?

No. The X-ray is an override material on its own view layer. Remove XScan takes everything out and restores your compositor, color management and render passes.

Does the reveal make renders slower?

Reveal renders two view layers (normal and X-ray), so it takes about twice as long as a normal render. X-ray Only renders a single layer.

Why does the viewport not show the X-ray?

XScan is a render effect built in the compositor. Press F12, or Render Preview in the XScan panel, to see it. The viewport keeps showing your normal scene; that is expected.
