Auto Animal Rig
Auto Animal Rig is a blender add-on for turning a prepared animal model into a fitted, bound/skinned Auto-Rig Pro based character rig with much less manual setup.
The add-on analyzes the model, detects the main limb and body structure, builds a semantic guide network, fits a compatible ARP animal rig preset to the detected shape, binds/skins the model to the fitted rig, and can tune the resulting animation actions after the rig is fitted.
It is designed for artists who want both speed and control:
- run an automatic one-click pipeline when the scene is already set up;
- or move step by step through remeshing, smoothing, CGAL detection, semantic detection, rig fitting, binding/skinning, and animation tuning;
- adjust many settings manually when a model needs careful testing or a more controlled result.
The main advantage is that the workflow starts from the model itself. Auto Animal Rig uses CGAL-based shape analysis to find the body structure, separate limbs from the torso, detect semantic roles, and prepare the data needed to fit and bind an ARP animal rig. This helps reduce the amount of manual reference-bone placement normally needed before rigging.
Required Products
Auto Animal Rig requires these products to be installed separately:
Auto-Rig Pro and Auto-Rig Pro: Rig Library are not included with Auto Animal Rig. They are sold separately.
Optional Products
These products are optional external tools used by specific modes inside Auto Animal Rig:
- Voxel Heat Diffuse Skinning, when using the VHDS binding engine.
- Quad Remesher, when using the Quad Remesher remesh mode.
These optional add-ons are not included with Auto Animal Rig and must be installed separately if you want to use those modes.
Auto Animal Rig is in active development. The workflow, presets, detection settings, fitting behavior, binding/skinning behavior, and animation tuning are being updated and improved as the add-on grows.
