Autosave & Professional Version Control For Blender - Snapsave Pro
Can I bring back a deleted object from a past snapshot without doing a full restore?
Yes — with SnapSave Pro. The Append objects feature lets you select any object from any past snapshot and bring it into your current scene. Only that object is added — nothing else in your scene is affected.
Do my snapshots survive closing Blender?
Yes. SnapSave saves your snapshot list to a JSON index file alongside your backups. Every time you open the .blend file, the full history reloads automatically. Nothing is lost between sessions.
Where are the backup files stored on disk?
Manual backups are saved to a yourfilename_backups/ folder next to your .blend file. Auto-saves go to yourfilename_autosave/. You can change this to a custom global folder in the Settings tab. Each backup is a plain .blend file — no proprietary format, openable in any Blender installation.
Will my current file be modified or overwritten when I take a backup?
No. SnapSave always copies your current .blend file into a separate backup folder. Your working file is never touched, renamed, or overwritten. Each backup is a completely independent .blend file.
Does this work with Blender 5.0?
Yes. SnapSave is tested and fully compatible with Blender 5.0 and above, as well as Blender 4.0 through 4.6. It is not compatible with Blender 3.x.
